I can feel that my braid is starting to get longer, my shedding is normal and is just the same. But for some reason my braid feels more thicker when it is shorter.

Im just wondering why my hair feels lighter the longer it ets even though my thickness is just the same as when it was shorter?

Hair grows at different rates, all over your head. For most people, the middle-back portion usually grows faster than the sides-front. So depending on whether you trim or just let it grow, it could be getting lighter as it gets longer due to the differences in length.

Or, you may just be getting used to feeling the weight of it, and just don't notice it as much. ;)

I imagine that those with very thick hair would find that keeping it trimmed to one length as it grows out causes it to feel heavier and in some cases, can even cause stress-tension headaches as the weight of it pulls. In my case, I've got thinner hair, so weight isn't really an issue. :p

Thanks JamieLeigh for the advice. Well my hair feels lighter in a plait, I guess it's because the weight of my hair is getting evenly distributed lol. But my hair feels the heaviest when Im taking a shower, now that my hair is getting longer, I can feel the weight of the water combined with the length of my hair dragging downwards & feeling heavy which is a bit annoying to me. It's like I have to be more careful not to get my hair caught & tangled in something.

I have also noticed this but as i haven't cut since December i thought it was probably that as after a few months my ends started thinning out naturally . My hair is layered around shoulder length which i am growing out and i am BSL + with ii thickness.
