This is my first post here, I've been reading for a few days. So much good info here. Currently, my hair is just shoulder length in the back, but with much shorter layers in the front, they just frame my face and curl under my chin. Every time I've gone for a haircut it's been very much over layered, almost to the point of it being a bilevel haircut, with a bob on top, and longer layers beneath. It's the curse of the wavy haired I guess. The shortest canopy layers are about mid ear. I'm grateful that my hair is in good condition, and I am going to wait as long as I can before my next tiny trim. I haven't set specific goals yet. Looking forward to getting to know you all! :)

Welcome to the forum! Can I recommend that you take some photos of your hair as soon as possible. When I joined it took me about a month before I took a photo and it's great to have a start picture that you can use along the way.

If your goal ends up being length, I recommend using a striped shirt (not thin stripes but something about 1/2inch thick or thicker) and taking a hair photo from the back every month at the same time and in the same place. I have been doing this since November 2009 and it is such a great resource for me to have for myself. I can find out what my growth rate is, when I typically have growth spurts, how my hair looks best and if I like the look of my hemline.

The final piece of advice I have is that when you make a change to your routine, do only one thing at a time so you can evaluate if it works for you.

Hi! I don't have thick hair, it's fine but lots of it. I will add my hair type codes under my name as soon as I figure them out! :)

Welcome! I tend to just be a lurker, but I noticed we're practically hair twins (except mine's on the thicker side). Happy growing!
