View Full Version : Buns for Waist length hair please

My repertoire for buns is the beebut, cinnabun, pencil/chopstick bun and one other that the name escapes me (starting with f???) but I could do it from about upper BSL.

Can anyone recommend some buns for me to try? My hair is waist length but my longest layers are BSL. Hair is thick and wavy. If you have links to instructions I would be most appreciative but I am more than happy to google.

My "go to" bun seems to be the pencil/chopstick bun but my ends are starting to stick out too much now so it's time to try something new.

Thanks

I'll be watching this thread, but I do love the lazy wrap and the braided bun! (I know the lazy wrap is somewhere in the articles section, but my braided bun is just an English braid made into a cinnabun :p)

Would this be a good time for me to whip out the Hairstyle Dictionary (http://hairstyledictionary.ztn.net/filter.php?ax=o)? :D

I only ever do one bun...which I think is a cinnabun? I don't even know just because it's the only bun I've ever known...

BUT now that link has plenty of simple buns I could try (since I"m trying to spice up my hair updos haha) so I think I'll have to experiment a bit...

I am only BSL but I am definately going to be experimenting with some of those buns in the hope that I may be able to pull off one or two :p "You know youre a wanna-be long hair when..." haha :) Thank you for the links, I have been trying to find a 'collection' of tutorials.

My repertoire is rather limited as well, it's like waist length is too long to do the easy twist styles and not long enough to just wrap the remaining length and staying put v_v

I can do a slightly modified nautilus though (only wrapping once or not at all). Cinnabun works, Spidermom's bun, lazy wrap only stays put in damp hair and lastly I do two variations of the braided bun, one where you wrap the braid around the stick and a sort of cinnabraidbun? xD

I got all of these styles from the style section on here I think ^^

I was a bit past waist when I learned to do a nautilus by modifying it. Instead of wrapping the hair around four fingers, I only use my thumb. The only other ones I can do are cinnabuns and lazy wraps (which decided to stop working for me at waist length. Grrr...).

My hair's an inch or two past BSL and I can do a celtic knot bun, just barely. The tail is short enough that it pops out every now and then and the beginning of the tail has a few spikey pieces, but it works and it holds. And it's a good break from the pencil bun that I've been wearing for the better part of 6 months. Lol.

I've been wearing this bun almost everyday now for the past two weeks. Only I have to use two hairsticks since I don't have a fancy hair fork :(

actually I *heart* all her videos and they're all good for waist length hair (I admit, I'm turning into a bit of a youtube stalker)

I like figure-8 buns; they work well for my hair, which is also waist length with some layering.
