Totally random and silly but something ive wondered. What is each of you biggest and smallest buns no sock buns allowed lol!

My biggest is a cowrey and my smallest is a nautilus. I call the cowrey my viagra bun lol, yes i know viagra doesnt make anything bigger but those commercial would make ya think it dont they! When i go out in a nautilus and the subject of hair comes up i have to take it down so peaople believe my hair really is tailbone!

So whats yours?

Is a sockless sock bun (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/album.php?albumid=7001&pictureid=96941) allowed? ^.^ My hair folds like that without the sock.

Excuse my ignorance, but what's a cowray?

Do you mean biggest bun in terms of width or the amount by which it juts out from the back of the head? Depending on how tightly I do it, and if I tuck my ends under I can vary the size of my buns and make them as big/ small as I want.

I did three rope braids and braided them into an English braid then bunned that. It looked like I had a football on my head.

How do you do that? I'd love to make it without sock, I don't like the sock bun look (on me), comes out too heavy and large. Thanks!

My largest was a 3 braid bun:

Actually, the same way with no sock. My hair isn't long so you can see the ends sticking out, you'd have to wrap your remains around the bun. The hair should be thick so there won't be gaps (even without the sock), so I think you qualify. :D Some people use a scrunchie instead of a sock, so isn't that big, or maybe they don't wanna put socks on their heads. :D I used a normal ponyholder for the ponytail, and a "classic telephone line hair holder" (http://www.aliexpress.com/product-fm/326323853-Classic-telephone-line-hair-ring-Phone-rope-hair-ring-Good-quality-not-to-hurt-the-fat-wholesalers.html) around the bun so isn't very tight there (which I don't like and usually wear scrunchies on the outside for that reason). Looks a bit softer than the normal sock bun.

Madora, what a beautiful bun!! I can't wait to do vortex or braided buns! :cheese:

Biggest: Double-braided bun. This is what I was wearing when an acquaintance asked me just how long my hair had gotten. :D

Smallest: Folded braid. I like this too, somehow it makes my hair feel some kinship with Toshiro Mifune's hair in 'Yojimbo' (his hair is in an eternally-scruffy-looking little topknot)-- and that's a good thing!

Oh i feel kind of dumb now its a variation of one of the stick buns a lazy wrap i think where you pull the hair over itself. I found it on here in the style articles section.

I didnt really have anything specific as far as what type of big just whats the biggest one youve done in your own opinion. I wish my hair didnt have so many layers to it (unintentional just how it looks as it grows since my hair is boith fine and thin) becasu ei love rope braids and that one you did sounds amazing!.

Havent done any braided buns in a long time, got tired of them looking so sloppy with all the bits sticking out. I liek them alot though.

This is such a cute idea for a thread. I can only do a mini-cinni, so I can't participate. I'll be checking back for inspiration, though. :)

I'm not really sure what my actual biggest and smallest buns are, but I think generally my buns look bigger if I make them a little loose without oil in my hair. Tighter buns, especially if my hair is oiled, look smaller.

Today I tried a vortex bun, it looks big from the back view, but has a low profile.

My biggest would be (the forbidden sock bun) any bun I can do with a braid, if I do the braid loose enough it'll look like I have a lot of hair - hooray!
The tiniest is all buns that require twisting, which reduces my hair into a sad little bump at the crown of my head. For example the bee butt bun is almost literally the size of a bee's butt >:( Too bad because I think it's a fun style. Maybe I twist with too much enthousiasm? :P

Biggest... I think its the orchid wrap? Makes a nice longish bun that takes up some room on my head.

Smallest... not sure, anything I can get really tight... probably just a general cinnabun that's twisted tightly. Those can compact down pretty well!

My braided ones seem to be the smallest, but I am no good at loose braiding so that's probably why! They are usually fist sized.

All my others seem to be of similar size, head eating size...

Yay, so that variation would be my biggest. The smallest would be the "cheater's hairstick bun" (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/album.php?albumid=7001&pictureid=96943). All learned here in LHC, else I'd be doing a ponytail or still cutting my hair, because the flip length would be unbearable!
