Okay. So this is me when I was 15-16. Dyed dark auburn. Oh, but not before it was dyed BLACK BLACK (from my natural light brown). Not just that, but I was so, so unhappy with it, I got the color stripped and dyed to this auburn color only a few days after the black.

I was mean to my hair. And I had some awesome fashion sense.

Show me your younger, pre-LHC hair! Preferably it looking not too happy :D But pics of your hair when you liked it are welcome!

I have a whole album of "hair over time," but my hair isn't honestly that different. I guess it's because I'm still so young now.

It seems like my hair has always been the same.. like forever! it goes from little past shoulders to bsl and that is about it. Heavy highlights and can be curled to not look a hot mess... oh and can not forget the breakage all over from all that great bleach that I continued to use on my very fine hair.. (man why didn't I find this place long ago)

Found another one. This wasn't the black, I don't think. I doubt I allowed my pic to be taken then. This was just chocolate brown/auburn.

Here's my hair when I was around 11. I feel like I have a Hermione-vibe going on in this picture: fluffy hair, black hooded jacket that could maybe pass for a cape, and a large suitcase for moving into Hogwarts for the new school year (and yes, that is a book in my coat pocket; how appropriate!)
Back then I could brush it without it turning into quite such a giant frizz monster. Now there's no way I can brush it while it's dry, it gets much too large and unruly. I've forgotten how much lighter it was when I was younger, too!

I can do this one! I have lots of photos online from years ago so...

My hair changes texture a lot depending on what shampoo I'm using at any given time and most definitely the humidity, it's very wavy and almost curly when it's very humid. Here's some photos from the past 10 years :)

Here's the oldest one I have, about 14 or so, with a serious case of PTSD and severe depression. Can you tell at all? :P

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a36/kyrieflutter/frogkyrie.jpg

about a year later (see my wavy hair? Much lighter than now too):

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a36/kyrieflutter/atschool2.jpg

About 18 years old (and my hair in awful condition)

http://photos1.blogger.com/x/blogger2/2663/4495/1600/728357/P1010433.jpg

and that hair, wet, from the back:

http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/433/3780/1600/P1010417.jpg

I got it cut about six months after that because a) terrible condition and b) chronic fatigue (ME/CFS) & fibromyalgia making my long hair impossible to manage (couldn't wash it myself, or brush it...).

Cut:
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a36/kyrieflutter/P1010079.jpg

And here's a few months ago:

http://inlinethumb36.webshots.com/46755/2503425790100712226S425x425Q85.jpg (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2503425790100712226HRYuJi)

(I had 4-5 inches off after that was taken and it's now almost at classic, if not actually there)

My hair hasn't really changed a ton.... it used to be a little curlier, but I've never done anything like dyeing it or perming it, and it's always been below collarbone, so I haven't had drastic length change. We'll see if it gets darker as I get older, as I'm still really young (14).

Everybody has such pretty hair, damaged or no. :)

This is me, about 2 years ago at 15. I had extensions and big 'ole teased hair. It makes me cringe to see now, haha:
http://i56.tinypic.com/2qusxtg.jpg

This is about a month later. I gave up teasing, but bleached the bangs. Still have those yucky hair-destroying extensions:
http://i55.tinypic.com/20k6kgp.jpg

This is me last March at 16. I went red and asymmetric, and looooooved it. The only reason I dyed it back was because of the splitties :(:
http://i55.tinypic.com/feqtfl.jpg

This was last summer. It was reddish-brown, probably my favorite color yet. Oh, and my stick-on moustache matched it. ;):
http://i54.tinypic.com/1zwg4rk.jpg

This is me of recent. I haven't straightened, dyed, or cut since December. This is the thickest it's been that I can remember, although it looks much the same. :D:

This is a great thread... I love to see how peoples faces and styles change through out the years. I am going to have to dig up a picture of me as a little kid and scan it, but for now these work.
The first one is during my red hair phase (and pre lasik surgery :D) that was circa 2006-2008. I loved the color but it was so hard to keep the color from fading with out dyeing it every two weeks.
The second is from 2004 when I lost my mind and cut off all my hair.

As far as I can tell, same color, same texture, minus the effects of humidity in The South then vs. Colorado now. When I saw it, I was kind of surprised how long it was. It was always "long," but I never really paid attention to it. I just let it grow as long as I could until mom made me let her trim the ratty ends off (and yes, she was right; they were ratty and horrible). I didn't know there was any way to "fix" my ends, to prevent dryness, build-up, and damage, but basically everything I grew I had to chop off, making no progress. But now I know!

And yes, my shirt says "hold me, I'm a fermata." Best. Shirt. Ever.

This is how I looked when I was in 8th grade and just about the longest it ever gets. I think it's the threshold of the awkward stage - it gets lumpy on the bottom and flat on top. I'm there right now, but I'm working through it....

I was about 9 years old in this picture. This was the best condition my hair was ever in. (sigh...)

http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/picture.php?albumid=2286&pictureid=27979

My routine was very simple back then. I used a kids 2 in 1 shampoo, left in a small amount of cheap conditioner, ponytail most day and used any old brush.

I'm thinking of going back to this routine. The more I pamper my hair the worse it gets :(

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v438/postalwar/user34389_pic96772_1298489295.jpg

(it was about APL in the back, longest my hair has been after childhood :P) Then I decided I wanted blonde hair, this was about 4 years ago?? And after that I NEVER had long hair again. Switched from whiteblonde to red multiple times, it's always the same story!!

And now I won't bleach it anymore, have dyed it with henna and want it to groooow. I can't believe how I treated my hair like 5 years ago when I grew it out. I only washed it with some random shampoo, NEVER moisturized it because that made my hair flat and heavy.. didn't do bad things with it either besides dying it black every 2 months or so.. but still, no conditioner, nothing! After I bleached my hair to death I finally learned how to take care of hair...

Haha I just saw your pic and was gonna comment "awww you look exactly like I pirctured Hermione Granger in the books" before I saw your text :D

I wasn't young, but I was younger then at 42 than I am today at 54. Hair bleached and I tried to straighten it the best I could.
Omg the volume! It looked fantastic!

Anyways, here's mine:

http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/picture.php?albumid=6265&pictureid=84265
I think I was about 7 here. No curls left (had when I was younger) and no wave like I've apparently gotten back in my older days, and absolutely NO thickness, and if you looked at it the wrong way it would fly away and you'd think I had rubbed ballons on top of it all day on purpose.

Me at 12-ish, with waist length hair, this is the longest it's ever been and it was very damaged and nasty. It only got that long due to neglect, lots of things happening that summer, no time to pay attention to hair. picture (http://rockhound4u.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d1bk18t) (I'm the brunette). It was completely virgin, all colour variation is just from sun.

GRU I hardly recognized your hair, so used to seeing your hair red!

Actually, jojo, my hair is pretty much the same color these days. It's just that weird shade of strawberry-blonde that, depending on the light, can look blonde, brown, or red. I take most of my pictures for LHC in my bathroom mirror, and the lighting in there makes my hair REALLY red for some reason. It is a skosh more red due to the henna that I use to cover my grays, but I use so much cassia in my mix that there's not a lot of reddening effect from it.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/__Bmig77F1hg/TbsrLj0tR4I/AAAAAAAACFg/zaQVrOLqsmk/s512/old_0001.jpg

It must be after 1973 in the above photo because my brother was born in 1973 and he used to pull my hair so much that I had my mother cut it. I have possibly figured out how to deal with all my cowlicks better now!

Note: Ignore my hair rating. I made a several errors when I noted it.

I no longer have any of the photos of my damaged/dyed/super short hair, but here are photos from my senior year of high school:

My hair is straight, but it curls up on its own when it's in ponytails for more than a few hours. (Only the ends curl up like that now, though.) I mistreated my hair in high school, yet it looks so much better in this photo than it does now... maybe the lighter color (my hair has darkened naturally over the years) makes it look shinier?
http://i1188.photobucket.com/albums/z414/4nnibelle/206410_1003104528966_1565430217_30020202_2418_n.jp g

This was also before my cowlicks became so bad that I couldn't wear bangs... every time I get bangs now, I look like a yak with huge horns on the side of my face!
http://i1188.photobucket.com/albums/z414/4nnibelle/197491_1003086608518_1565430217_30010735_8625_n.jp g

WHY DOES MY HAIR LOOK SO MUCH LESS HEALTHY NOW!? I really just realized it when I dug up these photos... :( Here's a photo from last year: flat and dull!
