I LOVE PIC SHARING! Starting length to present pics please!

My hair is not long, but I get encouraged by seeing other's growth, so indulge me please by showing a before pic, like when you decided to grow it long, and now.
Any lengths and growth is fine!

My starting length was neck-length, but it was between APL and BSL when I joined LHC in 2006. There was one big "trim" of about 9 inches, and another of about 2.5 inches in the last five years.

My dates are a bit off...But that's about my starting length. It was prob an inch or two longer...right after my Dad passed away and I stopped cutting altogether. (except for the two big chops of 6 inches to get rid of the blonde)

Here is mine. First pic is the first ever picture I took of the back of my head. It was to show my hair brushed out. For some reason I felt it necessary to "air' my hair in this way - lol. The next photo is the start of my "stripey shirt" sequence in November 2009. And finally my latest shot soon to be replaced by another on Thursday when I take my March shot.

I started growing deliberately a little over a year before I found LHC, so my first length shot's from October 2008; heavily layered, longest layers at BSL, shortest layers between shoulder and APL. The one on the right was taken on the 18th (February 2011); no layers, just past waist. :)

Well, my hair has been longish since I left elementary school, except for one brief trip back to APL, so it was already at BSL when I joined LHC and decided to grow longer.

Thank you. :) I CO wash with VO5 conditioners...and then condition with the Sunflower Market brand of conditioner, Nature's Gate, or just the VO5. I'm all no cones and no sulfates. It's been great for my hair.

What a cool thread! And what good progress everyone! Lisamonster, I think you're just ahead of me in terms of both starting and current length - want to be growing buddies??

I only joined LHC in January but I decided to grow my hair out properly in August 2008 after "trimming" it with the kitchen scissors and getting it evened out at a salon. In this picture it's been blow dried straight by the hairdresser and dyed strawberry blonde (from a box):

This is a VERY cool photo. How did you do it?

I'm afraid I spent a but too much time in Photoshop with that.
It's really easy, take two pictures - cut yourself out and insert yourself into the other picture.

Or: Take two pictures in different positions making sure you don't overlap and then stitch em together.

jenjen, was that april of 2010 or 2009? 2009 would be 1 year and 10 months. i'm not trying to be snarky or correct you, i'm just curious because my hair looks a lot like yours in the first picture and it would be amazing if my hair to look like yours in the second picture in just 10 months of growth :eek: thanks!

May '09 and March '11. I've had about 6" of trims since then, along with a lot of shedding due to anemia. The first picture is a few months after I got it cut, My chin length layers are still semi-visible, but they'd grown. Unstraightened it was closer to BSL.

It was 2010... I labeled the picture wrong. I know for a fact as I only lived where the picture was taken during 2010. I will see if I can go back and edit...

My hair grew quite quickly during the Spring and summer months... unfortunately, it has slowed down over winter. I gained most of it in about 6 months time.

This was me April of 2010. This is the great hair cut fiasco. I asked for half an inch to be trimmed off all over and she cut my hair THIS short. Not at all what I wanted.

I love seeing everyone's progress! Anyway, my shots are in my photo album becasue I'm a dork and can never figure out how to post pictures. I started at chin with hightlights and now am at slightly past APL growing out said highlights. Plus, I never needed those highlights because it was so close to my normal color. Current pictures I can't even tell what's my actual color because it's so close. :D But lovely pictures everyone!

Love threads like this too. Like several others, I'd started growing before I found LHC, so I'll include the shortest, the start of my LHC membership, and my longest.

I pretty much hit my current length (wavering between tailbone and classic) a couple of years ago, but have seemed to grow a little slower, and needed to trim a little more, since hitting this length, so have ended up maintaining. Haven't truly committed to the Classic Cause, or I'd have tried to do something about this by now I think!

First pic is April 2010, which is the shortest my hair has ever been. I pretty much started growing it out right after cutting it. I did, however, continue to color it. And heat-style.

Differences:
-longer, even a few trims
-feels silkier
-waves are more defined and consistent

The only bad things that come to mind are running through so much conditioner, and not having 'coney protection for swimming (yecch, chlorinated hair...).

This is actually partially grown out, but all my photos of my shaved head are gone with the years of crashed hard-drives. I was constantly dyeing and bleaching so it wasn't until I joined LHC that I finally began getting rid of my damage. I think I was 15 at the time, Bronx Zoo in front of the penguins. :D

I started growing in August 2005, with two perms in my hair. So I cut a lot of damage in the last 6 years. And I had a grow stall during my pregnancy and breastfeeding time - about 1,5 years.

I really dislike how my hair looks in this picture please excuse the virgin roots. This was not a wash day so it isn't looking it's best, rather dual actually. I'm trying my hardest to go back to virgin hair but the temptation to color is creeping in.

I love this one. This was a wash day so you can see the shine and health of my hair. Plus the slight braid waves make my piggy tails look thicker. I just don't know what to do about those dreaded neck fuzzes. I've tried water and a little gel but the boogers just wont listen. My fiance says they are cute....such a sweet man.

My hair hasn't grown that much, but in my defense, I did had a big chop at the very end of March and after that at least 2 trims AND kept the mullet short.. I'm growing it all out now though, no trims for me anymore! My hair was bleached (it was WHITE before, on that first picture I stopped using toning shampoo and used another blonde dye that made it a bit darker, but it was white and DAMAGED D: It's really so much healthier and happier now :D Yay for henna (and trims, I guess :P))

I don't have a really really current length pic to share. My camera is out of batteries. I just trimmed nearly 3 inches off the bottom, and I haven't done a proper dry to see where it's at now. stretched out from brushing and bunning it's just shy of BCL. I am debating cutting it shorter than that but I'm going to take a couple months to decide if I want to.

July 2011: this was the first time I'd straightened my hair since the previous picture and I was just wanting to see how long it had gotten without any curl!! I've had one trim since the previous picture, just to even the ends up. Once my hair gets the length I want it, I'll start trimming it to gradually even out the layers!

This is a few months after my pixie and dye job to fix the damage I did by bleaching the front of my hair and dying it red (which faded to orange... etc.) Please excuse the awfulness and smallness of this picture, I took it with the awful phone I had until I was 16. I also don't normally wear earrings like that... I was being outrageous for Rocky Horror, I think.

This is September 2008, when I hit shoulder length. At this point I had been back to my natural color for a while and I was semi-actively growing out my hair. I got lots of haircuts, though (or my ends wouldn't be nearly that blunt!). I'm posing with a block tower that I built. ;)

Absolutely no trim, so yes, that's the best way to make your hair grow fast! Don't trim it! :cheese:
