So, I've actually been here on the forums for a looooong time. I grew my hair out almost to hip then decided to cut to just above BSL...HATED it so I ignored it for awhile and then started growing again in Jan 2009. I have had a heck of a time working out a routine that works for me this time around but I think I've finally got it going. I have done a few trims and for some crazy reason cut a bunch of layers not too long ago...I will more than likely grow them out as well.

Currently I do a modified version of CWC where I wet my hair and apply conditioner to the ends (from ears down). I then do the rest of my showerly duties and wash with regular shampoo diluted in warm water (poured just over the scalp). Then I do a vinegar rinse with white vinegar I infused with catnip, mint and rosemary. I rinse the vinegar out after a few minutes. Sometimes I oil with coconut oil when wet, sometimes when dry. I also occasionally use CHI serum on the ends (both damp and dry). I *try* to comb only but love the way it feels to brush so I sometimes do that.

I recently (yesterday) did my first henna gloss and am pretty happy with the results...no color change but it does feel more slippery!

This is Jan 2009 where I started documenting..

I've recently been working on braids (as in, learning how to do them...lol). This is the way I wear my hair most days to work. It is my version of a "faux" french. Feb 2011.

My first attempt at a fishtail....pretty sad;)

My first French...not too bad considering that I taught myself with the internet...

A picture I took today to show the color in natural sunlight

And finally the length shot...31.5 inches at the longest layer...

Congratulations! That's a lot of growth, and it looks great. I also really like your braids -- it seems that you've gotten a sound foundation on how to do them. :)

Thanks so much for all the positive replies. I keep practicing with the braiding and it is just getting easier the more I figure out how to maneuver my fingers...lol!

Congrats, and hey. Your fishtail actually looks like a fishtail. Mine always somehow turns into an english braid 2" down from where I started. :p
