Best method to grow out layers? Or should I?

My hair is currently BSL with varying layers up to SL, and since reading on this site I have decided to grow my hair out longer (not sure how long...maybe to my waist? Or further?)

So I'm looking at all these layers, and I'm wondering if I should grow them out. The layers do enhance my curls, but I can't really imagine growing it out just like it is all the way to my waist - I would wind up with layers between my waist and mid-back only. So, should I just keep trimming the bottom until the shorter layers catch up? Or should I just chop it all off to the shoulder? Or does it matter?

I've kept trimming just the bottom layer until my top layers were at a reasonable length. I was planning getting rid of my layers, but I like them now that my hair is longer. You may find that you like them as well once there's less of a difference between the longest layer and the shortest layer :flower:
