I've been trying to do CWC for a while now but because of swimming in a chlorinated pool I had to shampoo my whole head every other day. I've been reading that in order to not have build up using a cone conditioner you have to use a sulphate shampoo. I really don't want to use the shampoo on my length all the time because I'm afraid it will dry out my already damaged hair but at the same time I don't want build up to mess my hair up either. Just in case it matters I use herbal essences body envy shampoo and tresemme for dry and damaged hair conditioner. Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

I would suggest checking out vinegar rinses (ACV or white, both work). I dont get a ton of build up, and so Ive yet to try it personally, but Ive read around here that they can be good for clarifying and removing product build up.

I've been mostly CWC with diluted shampoo for at least 4-1/2 years now. No problems. I do a thorough root to tips clarifying wash about once every 3-4 months.
But I don't have the complication of swimming in chlorinated water so I'm not sure how helpful my results will be for you.

Have you tried rinsing your hair with club soda to get rid of the chlorine? Ktani has an article about swimming and hair in the hair care section of the Articles. :)

Thanks for the help, I think I'll try clarifying every few months just in case and if I don't feel it's necessary than I'll stop, unfortunately I cannot stand the smell of vinegar no matter how diluted so ACV isn't an option. Thanks for the tip about the chlorinated water I did read that thread and it helped a ton, fortunately swimming in Phys Ed is over so I won't have to worry about that for a while :) Thanks again for the responses.
