The other day, I was looking for braids that I could do myself and stumbled onto this one.

Has anyone tried this? It looks very pretty, yet simple. (It took me a second to realize she was working with only two strands to start with.)

I've done it, just didn't realize it had a name. It's french rope braids to a normal english braid- it's great for keeping hair off my face and a bit fancier than just english braids.

I absolutely love these!!! I'm afraid I'd never be able to do the part that's closest to the head though. I'd love to see pictures if anyone here tries them.

I love how it looks, but I think I am braid challenged! I just tried it and ended up behind my ear in three turns. And it looked like one long twist, no sections. I have to work on this one!

Thanks for posting this video!

I'm perpetually hairstyle challenged, and this looked easy enough, so I gave it a try. Here's mine:

Looks great Lisamonster!! was it easy enough? I can't quite work out what she is doing with the top part of the braid!

Thanks!

It took me a couple of tries to actually figure it out, but it's essentially just twisting while adding hair from both sides until you get down to your ear, and you have to monitor how much you're adding, so that you have a third chunk once you get to the point where you start English braiding.

I've never done it as pigtails before. Usually I just do the twisty stuff on the sides, pull it all together, and put it in a bun on the back. I'll have to try this sometime though.

I thought her video was really bad and I totally couldn't see anything she was doing. It looks pretty though! :)

What a cute style! I will definitely have to try this once my hair is a bit longer.

Since I fail at doing french braid pigtails I will have to try this, it looks easier : )

That is cute! I wonder if my braid challenged finger could handle it?

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I always try so hard to braid my bangs into french braids and I can never get it to work! (Both the braids and the bangs staying in them, lol.)

I can't wait to try this!!!

I did that with my bangs yesterday- kept them out of my face and neat looking all day! I think I'll be doing it more often as they grow out. Funny, I never knew it had a name!

Mine turned out alright... way more flat to the head than hers, which is either my thin hair, or a technique problem. I'll have to play with it to practice.

Oh thanks for posting about this, love braids and it looks really pretty! So going to try this today, and when I do I'll post a picture. :D

ETA: Ok just made one! It was super easy, looks really pretty and is very comfortable to wear. After I took this photo I changed the "pig tails" into one braid as I'm not very fond of having two braids. Will definitely wear this style often.
