Ok, can anyone recommend a decent digital camera for taking pictures of my hair?
My phone camera's really bad quality, I can't see anything with it.
I want to start making putting pictures of my hair into my hair journal, cause that will be just a lot easier than trying to measure all the time, or trying to describe to myself in words what it looks like.

I'm in the UK so if you can suggest one that I can buy off of Amazon.co.uk or somewhere, that will be awesome. :)

I am in the UK and have an old version of this one.I like it but am no photography expert - in fact I am hopeless and this is easy enough for me to use.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-IXUS-105-Digital-Camera/dp/B00375N4KS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1297865859&sr=8-4

They are brining out a new model I think which is why this has been reduced so much. To be honest there are loads of decent digital cameras out there which are much cheaper - it all depends on what you want it for.
If you have an electrical shop or a Curreys/Comet near you it may be worth a look. It would be worth spending the extra money (in my opinion) if you were going to use the camera for other things - I always take mine everywhere - in the operating theatre when I had my children, car racing, on walks etc. It is small and compact.

Thanks for your suggestion :)
I don't normally take pictures of stuff I do, but I guess I should probably start so I don't have to keep relying on my incredibly poor memory.

Before buying your camera, if at all possible, inspect it in person.

How easy is it to use? How many pixels?
Is it lightweight?
Can you reach the picture taking button easily?
Does it have any kind of picture review feature (where you can see what you've just taken)?
Does it have a timer feature?
How sensitive is the aperture opening?
Does it have a built in flash?

I have different kinds of fancy cameras, but I also have a compact camera: an Olympus T-100 and well, I don't like it. I'd at least suggest not buying anything from Olympus! My 2 Olympus cameras have a lot of noise etc.

I'd go for Canon, the Canon Ixus is supposed to be good and not expensive! :)

I have a Sony Cybershot, have had it for many years now (it's probably ancient by now).

Hey everyone, sorry it's taken so long for me to reply.
I discovered Minecraft and the Yogscast, so I've been distracted for the past month or however long it's been. :)

Thanks for all your suggestions and everything.
I'll be getting some money soon, then I can actually buy something!

My friend has a camera that has a digital display on both sides...(Sorry if this is not new, sometimes I am a dinosaur when it comes to technology). Anyways I want to buy one next because I see this additional display on the front of the camera being helpful to see whether I am angling the camera right to get a good 'hair shot.'

Depends on what you want to spend really. There are a lot of really simple, point and shoot digital cameras on the market that take great photos.
I have this one -
http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-A480-Deep-Red/dp/B001SER4CO/ref=sr_1_77?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1302105666&sr=1-77

Though I wouldn't judge my hair photos off that one because I tend to have hubby use my Canon 50D (I do photography) for my pictures usually. I'd say, just look around, find a few you like and check out reviews and shots from them. Pixel Peeper.com is a great resource to check out shots from specific cameras and see what they do. They'll also give you a list of top rated digicams and such. :)
