View Full Version : Spinoff - design a new salon long hair shampoo system

After comments in this thread (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=63799&page=12), what would people include in a shampoo system for salons to cater for girls/women with long hair? Standing or sitting? Forwards or backwards? Height adjustable? Salon flooding avoidance technologies? Whatever...

Please note I have no plans to market any such product, so from my POV you needn't worry about the intellectual property rights of your ideas!

Probably off-topic weird answer, but I think many longhairs could prefer to wash their hair at home :D This, after seen all those peculiar and (most of the time excellently working) ways to wash hair which ppl use here.

I haven't been to a salon since I was a child but I suppose that a chair like a massage therapist could work. If the chair/bed was slightly tilted downward with the customer face down but there might be more tangles if the hair was washed upside down.

It could possibly work with the customer face up so long as no product got into the eyes.

I wonder that no salons have come up with something else because I don't think it's just longhairs.

I know my mother has complained about those sinks and the uncomfortable angle even with chin length hair. She doesn't allow salons to wash or dye her hair anymore because of the aforementioned product in eyes. (12 months of issues and specialists :( )

Yes please !!! A long haired salon sink, I will be the first to install one !!!!!
Keep in mind that there are sanitation laws and regulations that salons have to abide by, so it will need to be very similar to a normal salon shampoo bowl, but accommodate the extra length without making a tangled mess.
The shampoo bowls I have in my salon are quite comfortable and support your neck really well, but they just can't handle the volume of hair I have. Sometimes the sink won't drain and my hair gets tangled with all my length laying in that shallow bowl.
I am so surprised there is not one specifically made to address this issue !

I read somewhere that the GM salon in NYC has them. I think they were imported.

Yes, along with the hair dryers (I have one in my home) from Germany!
