Hi All - New to this site, and am starting to grow my hair out. I thought this might be a good way to track my success. My hair sheds terribly - does anyone know any way to help reduce this?

Hello! :)
I'm not entirely sure but I've read a lot about certain supplements that can help - biotin, msm and diatomaceous earth all seem to have helped with shedding for some people!
And perhaps wearing your up more, but avoiding heavy tight ponytails, and not using weighty hair products (my hairs horribly fine and really thick greasy conditioners etc really make me shed :( although I assume that's more down to my hair type).
Have a browse and you'll probably find lots of info in the threads that's more useful than me though lol!

Just to be on the safe side, visit your doctor and have him schedule blood work...to be sure you're up on all your vitals and don't have anemia. Also have your thyroid checked.

I think it might also depend on what is causing the shedding. Have you been to a doctor to have it checked out?
I'm no expert, but excessive shedding is not necessarily natural. There could be any number of reasons why it's happening. Thyroid issues, lack of certain vitamins or minerals, fungal scalp issues, hormonal issues, etc. If your hair is really shedding a lot, your best bet it go get checked out by a doctor who can weed out any serious underlying issues.
Moon-child is correct, supplements can be helpful if your issues are minor, but if there is something else going on they may be of little significance.
