Just wondering. If I ever get brave enough to give it a whirl how do you start? Do you clarify/cleanse really well to start off or do you just go with whatever is going on with your hair at the time? I"m very intrigued about these methods but I also worry because I do use products like Mega-tek massaged into the scalp in the evenings and I have been dabbling with MN. Can you still do WO or NW when using products like these?

You could start with these two threads from the archives... one is NW/SO the other is WO :)

To start, you just quit washing or rinsing. Some folks clarify. I started CO without any preparation except several years of extending diluted shampoo washes from daily to once a week. Then I stopped CO and just rinsed with water once a week. I could slightly smell the last conditioner I used during my first 4 WO rinses, while my hair was wet.

After 6 weeks of rinsing with water once a week, I just stopped rinsing. I've never used other products with WO or NW. I suspect using products may give you a bit of trouble with NW, but thats just because I'm a firm believer in not using products.

You basically have to experiment. It seems everybody is different, and you have to figure out your own path.
