View Full Version : Bangs with Glasses?

Hello all!

Just as the tittle suggests, I am looking to get some nice full, straight across sort of choppy bangs, but I am worried about how they will look with my glasses.

Looking for some opinions and inspiration photo's if anyone has any. The only ones I can seem to find are girls with those really large fashion glasses, mine are significantly smaller and square framed.

TIA :flower:

I've got the "nerd" glasses and I've had my bangs like that quite a few times (I'm growing them back out right now in fact....I've come to terms with the fact I don't have Zooey Deschanels hair and because of that, I can't pull off her awesome bangs no matter how much I WANT to!)

Here's the couple pics I can find with similar bangs...

Now in these pics - the bangs looked nice, to me...lol, but I'm just not good at getting up and "doing" them everyday, the trimming, etc. Hence, why they're being grown out for the million and a halfth time! :)

I have no advice other than to me, bangs are a good way to change up a look, without losing all your length and inevitably they will grow out in the end!

Well, both myself and my daughter have bangs and wear glasses. I am sorry I don't have a photo at the moment but maybe I can find one tomorrow !

I have bangs. They're kind of growing out and parting awkwardly but here they are..

I have mid-back length hair with a lot of layers, bangs, and glasses. My bangs are cut straight across, usually around eyebrow length or a little longer, and worn sort of tousled and a bit pushed to the side. I wouldn't call them sideswept, though, because they aren't that long or cut on an angle. I really think they're key to my look. I dress somewhat conservatively, so the bangs and glasses give me a kind of indie edge while still looking appropriate for work and my age. I wear my hair down a lot, and I feel that with the layers and bangs I look more fashionable than I would with just very long, all one length hair. The overall effect is similar to the posters above and to these pictures I found by doing a google image search of "bangs and glasses".

They are reading glasses which is why I tend to look over the top of them when I'm wandering around with them on >_< so not quite as good an example as the others :)

I find it breaks it up if your eyebrows still show at least a bit.

ooo i used to have bangs with glasses.. i will never do it again.. my reason, practicality.. the bangs grease gets on the glasses clouding vision.. gross but true..

When I had bangs I wore my glasses less often because my hair texture would cause my bangs to bend awkwardly around my glasses

I have side-swept bangs and often wear glasses. I think they look cute:).

I think I have similar frames to yours, and my bangs were cut with your exact description (choppy, straight across) just a few weeks ago and I love em!

Lol, I didn't have any pics of them yet, since they're so new, so I just went ahead and took em a few minutes ago! :D Excuse the orange flare, I just henna'ed yesterday.

I have a full and straight fringe (bangs), and large black art deco style glasses (which I love!). I like the way I look with them, and I don't mind the maintenance of trimming and styling them daily. I hope you decide to take the plunge!

WOW everyone! Thank you very much. Everyone looks absolutely amazing, I was just concerned about it looking heavy but you all look beautiful :) I defiantly think that I will take the plunge. I have always had some sort of side bang but nothing so drastic.

Thanks again everyone. When I find the extra cash to head to the salon I will post pictures.

Once again I really appreciate it guys! Hugs for everyone!

I'm contemplating the same option. I've had bangs for a while now and have left them alone to the point where I need to either start pinning them back or cut them again, and my hair is quite a bit longer than when the bangs were originally cut in.

Time to go play with the scissors, I guess. ;)

The one thing I have to say is that longer bangs and glasses don't always mix. I'm growing out my bangs along with the rest of my hair, because I feel that having blunt-cut bangs at this length would look really strange and bad. They get caught in my glasses fairly often and it's hard to avoid breaking the hair while trying to free it. :(

That was pretty much the only downside with the bangs and glasses mix...mine would get caught on the sides, but it didn't happen too often.

I used to have bangs (or a fringe, as I'd call it!) and glasses but my bangs would never lie right, no matter whether I straightened, blow dried or just pinned them down. They'd always go flicky at the sides, even when I wasn't wearing my glasses, and it annoyed me SO MUCH! If your hair will lie flat I'd definitely recommend it though, I think it looks great! I've grown my fringe out now to about cheek/chin length and it's finally drying up okay naturally with my glasses, such a relief - it's really low maintenance :D

Bangs are just great with glasses! No matter what kind of bangs you have, as long as your glasses go with your face shape it should look good all the ways :). I have glasses and bangs as well.

My contribution:

Cat eye glasses with bangs! (and a bun!)

I call it 'librarian style.'

I think I look better with bangs because of my glasses! My forehead is so large and high, when my hair is all pulled back from my face, it seems to really emphasize the glasses and my forehead. Scary! The bangs soften that up a lot, and actually take attention away from the glasses a bit.

LOOOOVEEEE this look!! <3 <3 <3
I want it so bad but I have curls & bangs get goofy on me, and, blue-black is too rockstar for my conservative workplace - so I go the darkest brown I can find! You are gorgeous!

YAY, thanks for this thread! I am having to wear my glasses more these days and back on the road to growing. In addition, I want to keep my bangs vs. growing them out. So thank you all for contributing to this thread!:D

Whoah, sexiest/cutest look EVER. I must hold myself back from cutting blunt bangs again...they always start bugging me almost immediately, yet I never learn...and now that I've seen all the gorgeous looks here, well...Hide the scissors from Glenna!!

I've had bangs for four years now and I've been wearing glasses for well longer than that. The ONLY problem I have found is that every once in a while a strand will get caught in the hinge. This is something I have learned to deal with. Go ahead enjoy some new bangs!

I actually cut shorter bangs precisely BECAUSE of my glasses. They're rectangular and thick, more of a statement than anything else and they look fantastic with shorter side-swept bangs. I leave the side pieces of the bangs longer than the middle and it looks pretty awesome when I pull my hair up.
