What is your all time favorite bun? Why is it your favorite? Finally, show me a picture!

My favorite is the rose bun. I love it because it's pretty and easy, (although it looks complicated), and stays all day.

Here are some pictures:

My most sturdy bun go to bun at the moment is the nautilus. But it isn't my favorite. I much prefer the look of flipped buns but I have to redo them many times to get them situated so that they are comfortable enough to wear for any length of time.

My favourite buns are usually buns on other people!!!! :)

Actually, the one bun I really like on me is the revised sock bun....someone had a link before Christmas to a you-tube video on the how-to of it. Basically you start at the end of the hair and roll it in/up. I find it stays close to the head way better (more secure) and stays looking good longer as well.

That's a great nautilus bun! I would say the nautilus is my most-used bun, but not my favorite. It's just the easiest and fastest when I'm in a rush. I also like to use a Flexi-8 in mine- that's a really lovely lavender one you've got there. Here's a photo of mine:

Basic instructions for a rose bun: Put your hair into a ponytail, and make a rope braid. Then, just wrap it around like a cinnamon bun and pin. Voila!

My favorite bun is the pencil bun because it is an easy one.

My favorite bun is the lazy wrap bun, easy and elegant. I don't currently have any pictures :(. I also love the nautilus bun. I like many others on other people but cannot get them to look consistently good on me.

Favorite bun that I can do or favorite bun that I want to do? Haha

I usually wear my hair in a cinnamon bun, but my favorite bun to wear is the lazy wrap ^_^

Everyone's buns are GORGEOUS! :thud:

I found this the easiest one to do http://www.longhaircommunity.com/archive/showthread.php?t=71774 it requires only one hair stick and no pins depending on the length of your hair :)

I am really fond of the Artemis bun, but my go-to is still a braided cinnamon bun. I think the rose buns are beautiful, and would love to be able to do one, but I think I need a lot more practice! lol

I think my favourite buns are those that involve hairsticks: Chinese bun, braided Chinese bun, rose bun, Celtic bun, and so on. Some photos:
Two three-strand braids coiled and fixed with hairsticks, kind of a mix between a braided Chinese bun and a Celtic bun:

The Celtic bun is my favourite probably, but I can't do a good one yet. Too much thickness. I like the EvaSimone bun too.

My daily bun of choice is usually a nautilus because it holds best.

I love the celtic knot bun but I can't do it. I tried a million times but I think my hair is too short or too thick to do it.

for me, its the nautilus bun... its the only bun that consistently stays. I can even ride my motorcycle for hours with it, and it holds like a rock. but I more often wear braids than buns, I just like having my hair down! :-)

My favorite is a flipped bun, held up by either a metal hairfork or a handful of those tiny claw clips. This holds very well, is pretty, and (most importantly) I can actually DO it.

I don't know anything about photos and the computer, so, as always, no pics from me. :o

I love braided buns, especially rope braided ones. But my hair is too short for most buns to look good on my hair! I can still do them though...which is a plus :D Soon they'll look good... i hope :)

Madora, your double braided bun is beautiful!

I like the braided bun, figure 8 (I guess because I can't do it)

I can't do a figure 8 or an infinity bun, either! I love the way they look on others, but they always turns out poorly for me :(

I really like the Maki Bun (see YouTube). It's as easy as, and holds as well as, a Nautilus, but ends up prettier. (when I pull the loop over my hand in the Nautilus, lots of hairs get loose, and it looks frizzy and ugly)

The buns that those from India wear a lot when they have super long hair. They use their whole arm to make it and no pins or anything. I can't do many buns on my hair or at least any to brag about.

I do love looking at them though.

The Nautilus for me. It's the one bun that will work for me first try every try and it's fast. I think other buns look prettier but most days I don't feel like taking a chance on them not working.

Do it! Rope braids are so much easier with damp hair. :)

The only reason I don't wear a rosebun every day is because I don't like to start with a ponytail that often. I'm concerned about breakage from the elastic.

Right now, my hair only allows me to do a standard cinnabun. In a couple of months, I should be able to experiment with other types of buns. I can almost get a figure 8 bun, but I need my hair to be a tad bit longer. I am more than happy to wait.

I know the feeling! The nautilus is my go-to bun, as well. I often try other buns first, but if it doesn't work on the first try, I go straight to the nautilus.

Vortex! It holds well (especially if I braid it), and is much flatter than anything else (which with iii hair is important). Here's a 3 braid one, topped with finishing pins:
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/picture.php?albumid=6883&pictureid=94537
If I had more length, I think rose buns would win out, but right now they don't quite work well (two failed (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/picture.php?albumid=6883&pictureid=92157) examples (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/picture.php?albumid=6883&pictureid=91564))

Thanks, Cirafly24! You should definitely try it, its quite easy, and looks really complex especially on people with longer hair than what I have as you can see the vortex better. Just beware that you need an army of U pins.

Well, LWB, braided or not. I love rope braids but so far mines are too small to wear them, they just look ridiculous, so... I'll wait.http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/picture.php?albumid=5646&pictureid=95187

Mine used to be a nautilus, but lately I've been gravitating to a spidermom ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoBA2OhZrcU) only I twisty the ponytail before wrapping it around my fingers - I was having problems separating the loops, and found that this made the bun much tighter and neater as well!

I would LOVE to be able to pull off a decent rose or figure 8 though... my hair is just too short for the first and too layered for the second.

Mine is English braid bun. Why is it my favorite? It holds better then most buns. Pictures of my bun are in my photobucket album. I have a link to it on one of my blogs if you want to see it look it up.

Lazy wrap bun for work, or if I need to put my hair up really quick. Otherwise I like to braid my hair in a three strand and put it up in a flexi-8.

LWB, nautilus, cinnabun, and the one I wear the most isn't really a bun, it's a peacock twist (which on my waist length hair looks more like a bun anyway).

This one is my favorite:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v190/BrokenCagedBird/3d638f40-fa9c-4e30-8fd3-01ca951d445a_zps526f1ca5.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/BrokenCagedBird/media/3d638f40-fa9c-4e30-8fd3-01ca951d445a_zps526f1ca5.jpg.html)

A lazy cinnabun happens every day though. A lazy cinnabun is when you don't twist and you only wrap your hair around into a donut. They don't stay well and by the end of the night The Naughty Mess is a Hot Naughty Mess.

melusine963

My favourite bun, comfort-wise, is the lazy wrap bun. It's the quickest to make, one of the least damaging (no twisting or pulling involved), and is very flat so I can lay my head back comfortably.

My favourite bun, look-wise, is the celtic knot bun (for now). It looks intricate, but unfortunately it sticks out too far to lean back against comfortably and it sometimes pulls at my scalp a little.
