Hi, all! I knew that all you lovely people would understand better than anyone this achievement. I have now reached a major goal, which is to be able to do a presentable Dutch lace crown braid. YAY!!!

It's not perfect, but I could definitely wear it out of the house. Here's pics!

I adore crown braids. I end up having to wind them around and around and around... mine are heavy on my scalp so I don't do them too often, but yours is so pretty!

Wow, I am very impressed, it's fab! I have been trying to get this style for so long now: it's fine around the back, but always seems to go baggy when I come back round to the front again. Any tips?

For me it works best to not change hands at all. It takes a bit of dexterity but this way I don't bet baffled with what strand goes next and where, and it also helps keep it tight. And I don't look in the mirror until I've done braiding :D

That is a wonderful achievement! :bowtome: You rock! :rockerdud
That is one of my crowning (pun intended) ambitions, too. But I am afraid I am quite a way off as yet.

That's a beautiful crown braid, and a great achievement!

I'm battling with it myself, but no success... I'm glad someone else has won this battle!

Beautiful! I wish my braid were as thick as yours is. Mine gets pretty skinny down toward the end. I can see how it would be heavy for you. You have about 3X as much hair as I do.

Oh, mine gets thready at the end, too... that's why we tuck the ends into the backside of the braid!

Very talented! It looks so neat. Mine always seem to flop on one side, I need to work on the amount of tension I have on my strands.

Nicely done! I'm still working on mine; sometimes they look good and sometimes, well, maybe there should be a crown-of-thorns braid or something.

Thanks for the tips, I will have to give it another go. I don't have a problem changing hands, but that might indeed be where the bagginess is coming from. And I'm sure you're right about the mirror....:D

You're very welcome :)
Yes for me changing hands allows some strands to slide off, not completely but more than enough to loosen the braid. Here are two pics:
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/picture.php?pictureid=93508&albumid=6900&dl=1295088998&thumb=1 - changed hands while braiding
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/picture.php?pictureid=94104&albumid=6900&dl=1295592969&thumb=1 - braided away in the same position
You see the difference. Though the second pic is like 3rd day hair so it was not too slippery, too.
