Candy Pruitt from "Here comes the Brides", 1968. My hair was long but just wasn't straight enough to stand the humidity and look like Candy's hair :sigh:
Another early hair idol was Angela Cartwright (Lost in Space), 1966. Oh to have straight hair back in the day when that was the style! (Some even ironed their hair to get it straight but I never tried it). We didn't have blow dryers and hot irons back in the day:blossom:

Beautiful hair, and oh my gosh, is that Chris Rea?! He looked good young. I never knew.

Here (http://youtube.com/watch?v=VUzRWM9p5H0) is my first ever long, blonde hair idol - the music is mega-cheesy :cheese:, but stick with it and look at 29 seconds, as well as at 2 mins 15. Like the girls in the Chris Rea video, you get to see the hair swinging, rather than just in a still photo. Maybe I'll get to that point one of these years.

Farrah Fawcett and Bridgitte Bardot hahahahahaha. I had long blonde hair until I was about 20, so these were totally feasible goals! I actually had a looooong version of Farrah's hairstyle going in high school for awhile. Oh the lameness.

Oh and every disney princess, ever. But that's obvious.

My first hair idol was Peggy Lipton, who played Julie in "The Mod Squad". Her hair was long throughout the run of the show, and for a least one season it was close to hip length. And she was so cool!

I never did get to have her hair (yet), because my mother kept me with bangs.

Here's the Mod Squad. I think you'll know which one is Peggy.

Well just that song :p. In my defense, I actually listen to that song and all their old (pre-disco) songs in my car. TMI?! In any case, Agnetha's hair in 1973 was amazing. I read somewhere that she wanted to cut it all off at various times but it had since become a trademark of the band, so she wasn't 'allowed' to cut it!

Oh and ABBA is CLASSIC not cheesy at all! They were very famous all over the world at one time!

Hooboy I'll have to think about this, there were so many rockin' long hair idols in the 70's!

I always did love Jan Brady's hair (yep, Brady Bunch) when it was really really long and had a nice bit of wave to it.

Farrah Fawcett, though blast you for your feathered bangs. Aquanet and hairdryers were mandatory in those days...

Can't forget Jaclyn Smith, I adored her gorgeous brown hair.

Crystal Gale, Juice Newton, Emmilou Harris...

My earliest hair idol was the little girl from Escape to Witch Mountain, Kim Richards. In 1985 she was in a movie called Tuff Turf and I wanted hair just like hers. Hope these links work.

Crystal Gayle has been mine since I was 4 years old! She is the reason the I begged my mom to never cut my hair.

Oh my, Bridget Hanley (Swackhamer, as she married producer E.W. Swackhamer), I haven't thought of her in years. Yes, I wanted hair like hers, we all did. She still works some, you can see her on re-runs of Murder she wrote and Bewitched every once in a while.
I quite liked Janis Joplin's crazy hair.

Crystal Gayle hair fan here, too.

Another one is Finola Hughes in Staying Alive. Her hair and female resemblance to David Bowie did me in.

Last but not least, Kira in The Dark Crystal.

Ohhhh! I'll never forget these women from my childhood.

Veronica Lake (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUoIG4OR9B8)

Lauren Bacall (http://youtube.com/watch?v=s59gcsUIQJQ&feature=related)

I used to watch old movies with my mother and they were my hair idols from the very start. I thought they were the most beautiful women on the planet. I was simply enchanted by them.

Yeppers...apparently brooke's hair started to get long during the shoot, but not long enough so she had a hair piece/wig. I loved that movie and have the DVD and when listening to the audio commentary, she mentioned that the first wig she had was so bad, it was totally tangled after a first swim in the ocean. :)

Morticia Addams.

It seemed that everyone had super-curly hair in the 80's, and I didn't. I spotted Morticia on TV one day and loved her for having straight hair. I actually think it was a touch wavy... but that I could do.

It's not really one of my favorite ABBA songs, but I love their music in general.

I was born in 1976 and didn't really get into ABBA until my teens, so I never realized until now that her hair was so long and gorgeous!

Mine was the children's book illustrator Robin James -- she did those Serendipity books. The earlier ones had a picture of her out in the country with long, long straight hair and I thought it was so pretty!
Also Sarah from the movie Labyrinth.

Ah yes, Jennifer Connelly (Sarah in Labyrinth) is another long hair inspiration for me. I read an article (she's also a fav actress of mine) on her and she said she hates it when they cut her hair for a movie. She loves it long :)

Yep, it shattered my dreams too when I found out Brooke had a wig for Blue Lagoon--if you look at some photos and in the film, you can see where her hair ends (above her bust line or just at) and where the wig covers it. Her hair was still long, but I think she wanted it to cover her chest as she was a young adult, so the wig was glued to pasties. She had a body double for the nude scenes in that movie.

Siouxsie Sioux.

When I was 15 I wasted a whole can of hair spray trying to get that look. Major fail.

What's funny though, my mom has very coarse hair that she cut recently, and she can get that same look without hairspray. I can even spike her hair with no gel, glue, or spray. She could be the envy of many teenage boys. :D

Robin James was one of my hair idols too! And I loved all the Serendipity books - especially the Morgan ones. Morgan and Yew was my favorite, I still have that one.

Also, I loved Daryl Hannah's hair in the movie Splash.

Since I'm only 15, Topanga Lawrence from Boy Meets World.
She was so cool.
I was pretty sad when she cut it, and they were all "OMG YOU LOOK SO PRETTY NOW"
Whatever, she looked better before.

(Interestingly, the only picture I could find of her hair is a shot of my favourite scene in the series. Cory is chained to a locker, and she just grabs him and kisses him.)
