Hi, I'm sorry for such a newbie question but I've always wondered about this.

Every night I put coconut oil in my hair and I don't heat style it anymore. However, if I SHOULD want to curl it or blow dry the dampness away the following morning, will I literally fry my hair?

I don't think you would fry it if you used the cool-setting on your blow dryer.

I wouldn't reccommend any irons with oil in your hair though. THAT just might do the frying. Also, no ironing damp or wet hair either.

Cool to warm blowdrying shouldn't be terrible as long as the hair doesn't get hot, but do NOT use a curling/flat iron!

I will try to find the thread later but blow dryer on coconut oil in hair actually helps the lauric acid penetrate into the cortex making the hair stronger. Lauric acid is a very beneficial part of coconut oil and you can get it to the cortex with certain shampoos or blow drying. I am at work but later I can find the info. You could search for the "hair care of movie stars of the past" thread or the coconut oil shampoo article by ktani!!
