We just watched the 1996 version with DiCaprio in my Shakespeare class. I absolutely love Juliet's braided halo in the scene where they first meet (you can see it in the last two minutes of this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTvMRHd8wC4). For the life of me I haven't been able to figure it out or find a tutorial on it. Any experts want to give it a go?:wannabe:

On this clip at the beginning you can see more closely how it looks like :) Maybe this will help a little more:

It looks like the sides of the hair have (loosely) been turned into a half up ropebraid. Then the ropebraid has been fastened with bobby pins of some sort in a circle at the back of the head. Or maybe each side has been fastened in a circle until they meet at the top of the circle and then ropebraided around each other. I'm not explaining this very well. But at least thats how I would do it:)

Take part of the upper hair on the sides, and braid each side individually. They look like three strand braids to me, but a four strand round braid would work too. Pin finished braids in a circle around the crown. It should be relatively simple with the hardest part being the pinning and getting it even.

Pausing the first clip at 8:31, it looks to me like what mowo described; two rope braids pinned into a circle-shaped half-up.

Thanks! I was thinking they were rope braids too. I'm going to keep trying...I think its such a cute style.
