This was my very first try at french braiding my own hair. I have never been able to do it on anyone else, and didn't even attempt doing it on myself.....but tonight I did it!!! And it doesn't even look that bad! Check it out:

Hmm, not sure. Less than 10 minutes, because my arms weren't that tired.

Wow, nice job. My first (and subsequent) attempts always leave the nape of the neck very loose, since I'm still braiding upwards, not down. My hair isn't long enough to pull it off to the side to work on it that way.

Very nice job. I remember it took me two days of serious trying to the point where my arms were sore to finally get my first badly done french braid.

This can't be really your first try at French braiding is it??? Your sections are so smooth and the crossovers so neat Cirafly! You certainly are a very fast learner if this was your first attempt!!

That's beautiful! I've *tried* to french braid my hair when it was long, and it did not turn out nearly as neat! I've even braided my daughter's hair and hers doesn't look that nice and neat either! Good job! :)

Oof, jealousy! The first time I tried to french braid my hair, my arms were exhausted after about 30+ minutes, and all I had to show for it was a tangled mess. :( Yours is so pretty.

Thank you everybody! Yes, I promise this was my first try lol. I've tried to do a lace braid once before, and failed miserably...and I tried a french braid on my sister, but it was just a big mess. I was so happy that this one came out actually looking like a french braid!

It's not usually quite that shiny, but I dampened it and added some Nightblooming Vegan Panacea to make my hair easier to work with, and to make the sections smoother. You can't really see it in the picture, but the part at the nape of my neck was quite loose...I'll have to work on that.

But still, I'm so excited! I can't wait to practice more so I can do it without using my mouth as a third hand haha.

Anyone else want to share a picture of their french braids to give me some inspiration?

Wow! It looks wonderful! Your braid look so very smooth with virtually no flyaways. I've done several french braids on myself and they don't even approach the gorgeousness of yours.
