I have just received a new Dymonwood hair stick off ebay which i absolutely love but my problem is when i try wearing it looks bigger than my head:( does anyone have any ideas on buns that look big?

The only 2 i can think of are a Chinese braided bun and a nautilus

Can you see what i mean. I want more choice as I've given myself a updo challenge to stop me trimming and i am only just getting more hair sticks / forks.

Have you tried a rose bun? I have become very fond of that style - and it is simple to do yet garners me comments of the "how do you do that?" kind.:D
How? Make a rope braid, then cinnabun it. :)

Thanks Alvrodul i recently learnt how to rope braid just so i can do a rose bun i will try that tomorrow for sure. I have also heard it gives you lovely curls i have just started daily damp bunning as my hair seems very dry no matter how many oils i put on the length.

Can you do a Chinese bun? They are AWESOME with long sticks! and if you have the length you can wrap it loose or around the sticks more times.

What about the spiral bun someone posted about a long time ago..It's 3 different strand spiralled around each other...use the stick for accent. I'll go find a link.

Link found. http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=27288

Perhaps a figure-8 or Infinity bun? They tend to be longer than they are wide, which is good for a longer stick.

I know what you mean! I have a hair stick that's lovely but it is pretty long and sometimes it looks a little funny! :) Have you seen Torrin Paiges' new video -- http://www.youtube.com/user/torrinpaige#p/u/6/-DF5HXky3B8
It is secured with pins, but maybe you could put the stick in all decoration. :flower:

Spidermom's Bun That Stays requires a long stick...and it'll cover most of it. Hypnotica has a great tut on it. Here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoBA2OhZrcU When I do this one I wear it up high on the crown of my head, so you can see the top of it from the front. It's the most comfy place on my head for it.

I don't think my hair is quite long enough for that i have tried the cheat version.

Its worth a go the only thing i don't like about it is how flat it is maybe i could change it slightly to please me thanks for the link i just love her videos.

You can't do those at BSL + hair can you?

There's a bun in the articles called a Japanese Bun (I'd look it up for u but the batteries on my laptop are almost out) that requires an extra long stick :flower:

Maybe this is heretical, but why not just shorten it? For years I had a beautiful hairfork that I never wore because the functional prong length was 6" and it stuck out so badly from my head that it just caught on everything. It was especially irritating while driving- I'd turn to look in my blind spot and bash the fork against the headrest!

Anyway, I finally asked my husband to lop off an inch for me and sand the points, and now I wear it all the time.

You can do an infinity bun just after BSL, with a bit of practice. Its a good wide bun.

Someone just told how to do this but i need to get some sand paper first. But thank you its a great idea:)
