I just finished my third henna gloss, and I LOVE the results. Love, love, love. So delighted!

I used Nightshade's copper blend, mixed with water and let it dye release, mixed with 3 parts VO5 moisturizing conditioner to one part henna, and left it on for fifty-five minutes. Before and After shots below!!

(Eyebrows, too...hope that stain on the skin wears off by tomorrow morning! lol)

SO...for those who wanted to try henna to cover grays, but weren't sure about a full-on henna application - YES, the henna gloss will get the job done. :cheese:!!!

looks FANTASTIC! :) I've also experienced that henna glosses can cover grey hair.

You're so lucky - such beautiful results from just a gloss. Your hair is beautify btw and loving the henna color results. Thanks for sharing - will have to try a henna gloss sometime. :) Also what is "Nightshade's copper blend"? TIA :)

Wow, gorgeous! Did you do your eyebrows as well, or are they just that light? Looks great!

Nope, I did do my eyebrows as well - note orangy stain around them! :)

It's oxidizing beautifully. I love henna. :)

Ok this might sound like a silly question, but is a henna gloss just as permanent as henna?

Yes, a henna gloss would be considered permanant (to be safe). It sounds like they can be more likely to fade some then a full head application for what I have read, but they usually do not... they are just less potent then a full henna application.

Is a henna gloss, henna and conditioner? If so, how much conditioner is required and how much henna. I'm guessing you could have a *strong* or a *weak* gloss, depending on the henna to conditioner ratio??

Carpedm - in my experience, the henna gloss is permanent; I'm just covering roots. But I find it is somewhat less vibrant and glowing with a gloss than with a full-on henna application, so by glossing I can deposit a bit of color at a time until I get the exact color I'm aiming for, rather than going all-out henna red from the get-go. It feels like there is more an element of control to it doing glosses. :)

Aliped - I think there is definitely a margin of error regarding potency. I know a lot of people just do a tablespoon of henna in conditioner. I used about an eighth or a quarter of a cup of henna and water, with equal parts conditioner. I would NOT do henna without strand testing. Even when you are comfortable with it, every batch of henna is a little different and can yield inconsistent results. Strand testing each time has assured me that I am getting the exact shade and vibrancy of red I am after.

To take up less time, I DO mix the new batch as I'm strand-testing the first one. I know dye release is going to be a 2-3 hour affair, so I can have it almost done and ready to go by the time I know how long I want to leave it on - which shortens the whole time a little. :)

Where do I find Nightshade's copper blend recipe?
P.S. I like you hair color. Pretty. I don'y want the vibrant orange either.
