Another question: as you can see, I'm growing out some layers... but I'm also getting a bit bored of them. would a V-hemline be counterproductive?

I would not recommend a V hemline, your ends will automatically look thinner or more the overal hemline.
I think you are at waist for sure even an inch past already, form now i it will go quick and you will be at hip in just some months!

Yes your at the same length as me! my hair grows in a V if I dont trim it but i quite like either a V or U hemline

My hair would be straight or slightlyU-ish, but I had layers cut in out of boredom/stupidity,and I'm growing them out. I love how sharp V hemlines look, and I'm so tired of my hair looking like 'oh, wait, its gonna grow, I'm working on it'-or to me, it seems it looks that way:p

I have always thought that waist length hair reaches the bottom of the elbows since the location of a person's waist can be vary. The bottom part of your hair has reached this area.

I actually think that cutting it in a V-shape might make it look shorter. A fuller hemline seems to give the appearance of longer hair. (But I'm biased since I like straight-across the best..)

I think you are a bit past waist actually. I personally don't like v hemlines. I think it's too sharp and thins the hemline too much. I like u hemlines. It thins a bit as well, but isn't quite as sharp. I also like blunt and fairytale ( sometimes.)
Then again this is about what you want. If you are due for a trim you can always try a v and if you don't like it all you have to do is cut off the tip to turn it into a u. This does take off more length though.

waist is the narrowest part of torso or last rib, my elbows reach my hips. I think my arms must be on the long side:) but waist is pretty much the same on everybody, unlike BSL with is a bit ambiguous as people tend to wear bras (or not as the case might be!) in different places.:)

I'm partial to the U-hemline myself. The V always looks like there's hair missing to me, unless it's a V that developed from growth without trimming; that looks more graceful. Note: no offense intended to those who disagree. These are my opinions and worth about as much as my armpits.

Definitely! I think you probably hit waist a couple months ago without realizing it~ it seems to be past the narrowest part of your torso by a couple inches. Hooray! Congrats! :)
