How long it took to get your hair from BSL to waist?

Well, waist is my next goal, but I'm pretty close to it, so I thought I'd answer this question. :)

It depends, of course, on your body type and how tall you are, and if your hair has any curl to it, but on me, I hit full or low BSL this summer, and I estimate hitting full waist by this spring. So, as a rough estimate, BSL to waist for me will be about 8 months or so.

I hope that helps!

I don't really remember because when I joined I was already past BSL, but I would estimate 6 months. I'm 165 cm tall, my hair is straight and I think my waist is normal, nor high nor low...

I reached BSL December 2009, then trimmed about 2.5 inches, then almost reached waist this December, then cut off 1.5 inches. Without the trims, I'm guessing it would've taken me about 9 months to reach waist.

It took about 8 months from 'solidly BSL' (bottom of bra strap) to waist, for me.

I am 5'5" and it took me about 5 months from BSL to waist.

Two years, ish. But in that time I trimmed four inches and went from a very layered BSL to a blunt hemline at waist.

About 9 or 10 months, I think. It's been a while, but I know it was less than a year.

It took me 6 months from July to November, I'm 5'2"

About a year, with a few trims in between.

From the looks of it, it'll be about 7-8 months for me.

It took me about 4-5 months (I'm 5'4").

Not there yet, but less than a year. Perhaps 10 months, give or take, from top of bsl? I'm 5'7"ish.

It's taken me years and years, but I think until recently my hair was breaking off faster than it was growing (instead of not growing at all). I also had some trims during that time too.

There is a picture of me taken 7th May this year with my hair almost to the bottom of my bra strap - like the very tips so I'll say that I would have been BSL officially in June 2010. Now, in January 2011, I have about one inch to get to waist (again the tips) so I would say that I will be officially waist in March 2011. But it pretty much "feels" like I am there now.

So what you see here is 7 months growth but it will be more like 9 months by the time it's "official". I should add that I haven't had any trims since April 2010 and my growth rate is around 5/8" per month but it does vary a fair bit from month to month. Also I am 167cm tall which is about 5"6 (I think).

I'm short waisted, and 5'4". Incidentally this puts the bottom of my bra-strap roughly 4" from my natural waist line. I'm probably a mutant. At my last calculated (winter) growth rate of 1.5" a month I will take me approxmately 2 2/3 months to reach waist from bsl.

... unless I did the math wrong....

... which is possible....

... but if it is right I'll have waist length hair by late spring/early summer!

It seemed like it took forever and that I was never going to get there. Then, one day, there I was!

I went from top of BSL to waist in about 8-9 months.

I did it in about 14 months. But I was trimming along the way. Sooooo not a fan of scraggly ends.

I feel it took ages to get from bsl to waist for me. I was bsl around august 09 and i got to waist around april 10!! But my hair does wave at the middle so I could've reached it before and never knew. It felt like ages...!!

About 9 months, I guess. With microtrims.

So this is sth which has to be possible!
I hope I'll be at weist in march 2012. My hair is growing slowly - 1 cm per month? Now in wintertime you don't feel any growth at all.

Mine took about 4 or 5 months, but my hair grows pretty fast. It also depends on whether or not you trim.

xoxophelia
January 8th, 2011, 08:45 PM
I think you should count on it taking anywhere from 6 months to a year depending on how many small trims you do (no more than 4" depending on your growth rate).

If I hadn't trimmed it probably would have taken 8-10 months or so, but I trimmed every month to get rid of damage, so it took me almost 2 years. I grow an average of .75" a month, am between 5'6" and 5'7" tall, and have a fairly long torso.

This is what I did:

Take a measuring tape and measure from your hairline up top down the back to your waist.

Subtract your current measurement.

I am between 28-29 inches to waist on my frame. I am 5' tall. With my current measurement of a little over 20", I figure that I can be at waist in 12-16 months if I grow at my average of .5" a month.

However, I have started a Mega-Tek routine and have committed to taking all my vites and supplements. I have added biotin and MSM to my supplements as well. I expect (and hope) to see a bit of accelerated growth.

I am in between shoulder and APL. I'll feel like I have longish hair by BSL. I haven't decided 100% if I am growing to waist at this point. I'll figure it out as I go.

We shall see. ;)

8 months with no trims. I have a short torso so I don't know how much of a difference that makes.

3 months, but I'm extremely short waisted. It's taking me forever to get from waist to a proper hip...

I'm not sure whether I have reached waist yet. If I haven't, I must be close.. but in any case, to answer your question how long it took: AGES.
BUT: In all fairness, I have to say I trimmed a lot of old damage of during that time. So it might not have taken as long with healthier hair and fewer trims. :)

I just realised that I reached my goal yesterday :) It took my about 8 months.
only thing is that my hair looks extremely dry at the ends so I need to trim it (maybe 2cm), but I cant bear to!!!!!!! I've been waiting for so long and I don't want to say goodbye for another 2 months

I reached BSL in January 2008 and hit waist in November 2010 so nearly 2 years for me but I did have a very stressful year in 2009 and my growth all but stopped. I have found in general each goal takes me a year to get to with trims.

I am on a no trim year and 4.5" ish off hip length, hoping to get there by Christmas this year!

eta-change year it was 2008 not 09!

This is so encouraging :) I am on my way to waist, may take 6 to 8 months. No trimming.

It took about a year.....I may be slightly past BSL and slightly past Waist.

I counted 8 INCHES between BSL and Waist, so if I don't trim that should take 16 months on an avarage of 1/2" per month, but I do plan to trim some before I get there so I say 2 years, I WISH I could count on it in 6-8 months, not unless I get an inch every month for the next year. Which is highly unlikely :(

Oh, it was a long way. It took my about two years. First, I cut a lot at that time to get rid of the rest of my perms. And I was pregnant - and my hair didn't grow even one inch during those 10 month...

Mid back/BSL was an abyss that took a couple years to get through. Then it was almost another 2 years to waist. My usual net gain per year is about 3-4" with trims.

I joined LHC in late June and it was a couple of cms below BSL, and in the end of October/the beginning of November I hit waist, so about 5-6 months :)

Definitely less than 1 year. My hair is fairly straight though, and I'm not super tall. I'd say 8 months is likely about right.

Took me 6 months. I had my hair cut from tailbone back to bsl in May last year, in December I reached waist length. I am 5' 1 :)
