I am so inept when it comes to hairstyles. My hair is hip length but I wear it up just "hairbrained" twisted and clipped with a barrette. Totally no style. Where can I find the tutorials on this site? I need to learn how to bun my hair properly. Thanks.

Check out the Articles section on the menu bar. That will lead you to the hairstyling section (and other interesting info).

Many different styles are shown.

Or, visit Torrin Paige's You Tube section and be dazzled by a plethora of intriguing styles that are very well illustrated.

Happy styling!

Any tips on how to actually *find* stuff in the articles section? I can't figure out how to search it... :(

The Hairstyle Dictionary (http://hairstyledictionary.ztn.net/) will probably help you a lot, too.

C. sinensis, I agree. The Articles section needs some indexing or a search feature. It's getting a bit unwieldy. Perhaps we can talk the mods into making it searchable? In the meantime, you can use Google. Type what's in brackets here: [YourSearchTerm site:http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php], and you'll get the relevant articles.

I'd love to see an indexing of the hairstyling section! Like all braided styles in one group, all buns in another section, etc.

Also, it would be great if original contributors could amend their articles and describe how long their hair was at the time -- so us would be stylists had some kind of idea of what styles work with what length of hair.

Thanks a bunch!

That info is not that informative - it depends on the thickness of the hair.

That'd be awesome!!
I was thinking that the other day.. or sorting the buns for length as well. we would avoid so much "apl/bsl/wl/any length hairstyles" threads! (that usually just direct people to some youtube tutorial.. I mean, we are the Long Hair Community! I'm pretty sure we have a LOT of material here!)
Also, there should be a Sticky thread somewhere with all the youtube users (who want to share of course) could post the direction to their channels (hair related, obviously)

Arh! I'm brainstorming here :D

Also try Styling Station Central at The Long Hair Loom. Some of the pics are dead there, though.

Aside from the articles section, this thread (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=61722) that popped up a bit ago about favorite YouTube channels might be helpful. :D

I really like the idea of sorting the buns (styles in general) by length! It is a very practical idea, and would be so helpful!

No you can't :wigtongue:
 Unfortunately this is nothing we can do. It's not that we don't want the article section to be searchable, we'd love to make this possible. The problem is that this is a feature our forum-software does not support.
And there are no immediate plans to buy a newer vBulletin software with more features.

There are several workarounds to find help with a specific style:
- Searching the article section via google.
- Many hairdos have threads on the forum, linking to articles. The regular forum search will bring them up.
- When clicking on the VIT-sticky ("Very Important lLinks"-sticky), there is a link to enfys' Article Index, where she is collecting links to articles. This thread can be searched via the forum search  which tends to give more specific results than google.
Articles Index (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=41073)
- The hairstyle of the month threads often contain links to tutorials and helpful hints for making a specific style with different hair-types and at different lengths.
- Just make a thread asking for help with a specific style problem, there'll be somebody around to help you out with how to do it or with a link about how to do it. That's why we are a forum :flower: to help each other out and share knowledge about haircare.

Sorting buns by length was really difficult LHC100.
If I remember that right there have already been attempts to do a list like this, but depending on circumference (i/ii/iii), taper and slipperiness it's practically impossible to foresee when somebody will be able to wear a certain hairstyle.
I can't find the link to it atm, but maybe somebody else will remember what to search for and share a link to the old thread we had about this.

I started a thread here (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=57676) about how length affects different styles or care, and am writing an article about it. I'd love some additional input!

Also this one (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=57674) looking for hair style blogs (not hair care, not YouTube or videos).
