View Full Version : Fairly Easy Bow Bun - worked ok for my APL + hair

So I found a video on this site that shows how to do a fairly easy bow bun. The video is not in English, but it has English subtitles, so it makes it fairly easy to follow:

It took me about three tries to get a passable bow bun. It's still a little messy, but I think that's because my hair is a little shorter than the model's hair, and it's also angled in the front. It would probably work a bit better for slightly longer, all one length hair. Here are a couple of pics of my attempt:

I also didn't back comb the ribbon part (the leftover hair that is pinned up) so that might have made it a little more difficult for me as well. Overall, I think it's a passable attempt, though.

Anyone else want to try?

(ETA: Since I have really thick hair I used three Spin Pins and mostly U Pins instead of mainly bobby pins. That worked better for me. I did have a few bobby pins mixed in as well.)

That's funny, I didn't even know she did this style before I tried it. Though it looks like she has done the half up in the pictures I've seen so far.

I kind of like the full bow bun better.

Thank you! I'm so glad that I now have a bun for a dressy night out. :) Up until this, I've only mastered the basic cinnabun.

It would probably be ok. You just have to take the left over hair beneath the 2nd ponytail holder and pin it up with the bows. I will admit, it did take me a lot of pins because of my angles and uneven length. But it seemed pretty secure once I was done!
