This thread was inspired by How did you stop obsessing over your hair color thread. Since it is known that poeple with ash color hair are the least happy with their natural color, I think we need pics of beautiful long ash color hair. So please, sow us how beuatiful this color really is!

I was "watching" this thread.

This is not me, but perhaps gets things going!

This is like my natural haircolor:

Ash might be my hair color. . . but I think it is an undescriptive color name. That and I kind of doubt my power of inspiring others to love natural hair color.

That's my natural ash coloured hair. :)
I personally think it's beautiful, ashy hair that is.

I'm an ash blond and I love my color. There's a larger version of my user icon pic in my profile.

Here is mine.
It is very nice, but somehow I have been avoiding it for years.. :) I may grow it out to see if it is still there, or it got taken over by silvers.

The ends are a bit orangey because I grew out henna, but down until the shoulder it is all virgin.

I have a naturall ashy colour. The funny thing is that it looks different in every picture. I am posting from my mobile, so not able to add a photo, but you can see some pics in my album. My colour is closest to the colour of a hazelnut.

Great idea! I don't much care for mine either. *Eagerly awaiting pics*

You can see my growing-out ash blonde in my album - in the most recent photos, the top of my hair is ash, the bottom is henna. Those pictures are over a year old - almost all of the henna is gone now. I love my ash!

Here is my "combo" hair: the virgin hair that is ash blonde with about 40% gray, the white fluff at the temple, and the colored hair using "Medium Ash Blonde" dye.

Mine's an ash color (dark ash blond). The odd thing is, when an ash color is that dark it looks kind of brown. You wouldn't guess I was blond unless you saw me in lots of daylight, especially sunshine. You don't see many ash coloreds, mostly it's *the* color that everyone loves to put dye over. :? I did too, for many years.

No flash.

In sunlight.

It doesn't really look that ashy in these pics, but believe me, it is :)

More pics in my album :D

My hair is ashy brown, you might be able to see it here. I used to dye it to be chocolate brown so you might only see that color. Excuse my braid, it is one of the first ones I have ever done.

I am growing out old color but you can see my roots that go to about my ears in this photo.. when it is all grown out, the blonde highlights will start to stick out.

Um...I've never thought of myself as ash color, more of a "dirty blonde" but judging by other people's pictures, maybe mine might count? If it does that's sort of sad...I never thought my hair color was something to get rid of.... I like it.

You look like a warm dark blonde, Lunnafindel. With ashy hair, yellow/red tones are barely seen.

Mine gets less ashy as it gets bleached by the sun, and sometimes bright light brings out some red, but I still tend to think of it as being a light ash brown.

For example, here are my virgin ends brought up near my virgin roots. Just a slight color change there.

This one looks a bit ashy
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e117/lchamber78/Hair%20Length%20Shots/20090508_hair.jpg

But this one is from a sunnier day (same room and camera angle) and looks much brighter/redder
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e117/lchamber78/Hair%20Length%20Shots/20090601Ithink.jpg

This one looks most true to color to me though, I think my natural tones suit me.

I just wanted to say that I love ash colored hair now. It took me years to appreciate it - I was always trying to get back to the light golden blonde of my childhood and didn't realize how beautiful healthy dark ash blonde looks.

Mine is pretty much this color, except my natural growth is barely up to my ears. I am learning to love it.

I have ash blond hair, I think. Picture in signature, more in my albums. :) I have grown to love my natural color. I tried to coax it into a more golden or red shade for a couple years, but it just doesn't suit me like my natural color!

The only pics I have of my natural hair are from 3-4 years ago... I'd grown out from a pixie to shoulder length natural color, and then I permed it and then I bleached it and then I dyed it black... etc, etc :o
You can see in this one it almost looks kind of green in this lighting! (just natural sunlight on a cloudy day)

A little bit older picture, but brighter lighting.

I wish I had some LOL. I find my natural dark ashy brown makes me look very blah and I have lowlights put in it to liven it up. I have grown them out periodically but don't think there's photographic evidence.

Morecowbell, I hear you on the "almost green" thing, sometimes I swear mine could be very dark khaki.

I'm just wondering, what exactly is ashy? Like literally, the color of ashes?
My natural hair color is a very translucent light brown, I guess it would be considered 'ash' colored.

I'm a medium ash brown naturally but pictures show up with a green tint. Well, I also have no pictures of my hair being 100% natural color.

Ashy refers to the absence of warm tones in your hair colour. My natural hair colour would be considered a light ash blonde (although lightened further by the silvers). Ash can come in darker colours too.

Ashy refers to the absence of warm tones in your hair colour.
That must be why I am only ash in certain lighting.

I need to have my lowlights redone, so here as a treat are 2 pics my roots. Cool, ashy dark brown which seems to have hardly any colour to it, yet is definitely not black. Sun will give natural goldy highlights that actually look unnatural. First pic - flash; second pic - natural light.

You wouldn't guess I was blond unless you saw me in lots of daylight, especially sunshine.
Same here, I'd say my hair looks brown normally though. Under incandescent light it looks like it's mid-brown with reddish highlights.
It only looks blonde in sunlight. It's a very dark, ashy shade but the shine on it is golden blonde. Then I get the "oh, did you highlight your hair?" comments.
