i dont understand the hair classifiers

can someone help me out? i have no idea what mine would be... my hair isn't curly, its wavy/straight depending on if i comb it or not. and i don't have too much volume. i don't understand how to translate that on the classifiers. i would appreciate some help thank you. :)

You say you're either wavy or straight depending if you comb? If so, I'd analyse your hair after it has air dried without brushing and use that as your classifier.

Going by one of the photos in your album, I'd say you're 1b/1c, M, ii/iii.

that doesn't really help me understand how to classify with the codes they have on here. its usually wavy when i don't do anything to it

Have you seen Fia's Hairtyping website (http://homepage.mac.com/annsofie.henriksson/hairtyping/Personal27.html)? If you click the letter/number combos on the top, there are pictures to help you get a better idea of what the types look like.

If you'd like, you can post a picture of your hair freshly washed & air-dryed with no manipulation (other than maybe a quick finger combing to detangle). I'm sure we can help you type if it Fia's Hairtyping doesn't help. . . the pictures on her website (posted by Kaijah) are really useful. I thought I was a 1a until I looked at the pictures.
