well after having a lot of trouble with finding inspiration for still having long hair, i now feel newly inspired having seen some youtube videos <snip to stop people from attacking my friend>.. so after seeing the one where the girls mom gently brushed out her hair so gently, i felt inspired to try and take better care of my hair.. so i did a bit of s&d and then put it up in a braided bun held by metal flower things instead of my usual (somewhat damaging) hairtie bee butt bun.. and then later im going to see about doing a deep oil treatment.. its weird but seeing moving pictures has more of an effect on me than stills..

so my inspiration is youtube videos..

whats yours?

or who is yours?
whichever.. thought this might be fun

This guy is strange... He is a long hair promoter?!?!?! what does that mean? As i could see he has very short hair and all of his videos are a bit ******y...

to answer the question, my inspiration is one old lady from my neighborhood with tailbone light braid, aldo I don't think I will grow that long, still she looks magical.

My inspiration is music ( I want to do the double swirl when I headbang :rockerdud), I love to sit on my computer late at night after everyone goes to sleep and Google for pictures of amazing long hair. I see pictures of girls with gorgeous long hair, and amazing haircuts that I want to have once I reach my length.

Believe it or not, I watch sailor moon and just love her hair...

Recently I went to the Disney store by my house (I live like 2 minutes walking from the mall) and I saw the big princess dolls they have... All of their hair was at classic... I felt so inspired to grow it out!

im pretty sure he had shoulder length hair for a while and thats pretty long for a man.. he seems to try really hard to make sure the vids arent feti$hy and are just about the beauty of the hair.. though i dont see how a mom braiding a daughters hair could be sexy at all so that one couldnt possible be thought to be feti$hy.. i mean.. its family you know? its like showing a grandma washing a 4 year old's face.. its not easy to cut out the possibility of it looking feti$hy when your models have hair that long (there are a lot of people who would be into that sort of thing) but its obvious that he tries to.. i like some of the styling ones too.. he is really a very nice noncreepy guy now that i know him a bit better.. though i suppose he might seem weird if you only judge based on the videos.. it would be like people judging me based on just my website.. people would think i was obsessed with woodworking.. or that i never wear real clothes and only ever wear pajamas and robes..

:) thats nice about the elderly woman.. i still dont have a tailbone length braid yet.. im barely at a hip length braid.. magical.. what a nice way to describe the way someone looks.. i think im gonna steal that word

For me the inspiration is my DD. She is in love with Rapunzel and long hair. Her greatest desire right now is for her and Mommy to grow out our hair like Rapunzel in Tangled. Since our hair is the same length, we're both going to do it. Now, she may lose interest (she's not quite 4) but I have always wanted longlonglong hair and have decided I may as well do it. It won't happen on accident...

oops sorry i forgot to respond to this.. when my hair was shorter i found lhc to be very inspiring.. however um.. somehow there seems to be less people with hair much longer than mine around.. when my hair was shoulder length lhc was full of what i thought was super long hair..but now i see a lot of people around my length or shorter.. i think this happened about the same time as when my hair became the longest in any room i walked into.. im really glad lhc is inspiring to you.. i hope you feel at home here and if i havent already said this: welcome to LHC!:cheese: and goodluck making your hair grow out to your goals :)..

To be honest, extra snoozing time in the morning - only with long hair can I just tumble out of bed, throw on some makeup & clothes, and be out the door. If I had shorter hair, I'd actually have to style it, which means I'd have to get up earlier. I refuse!

Yes, I know. I am the laziest person on the face of the planet. What else would you expect from a little piggy though? (^(oo)^)v

My absolute hair inspiration is Mlle. Aline Vallandri, a famous opera singer from the Edwardian era. She's actually in my avatar, and I've adopted a lot of her haircare into my own haircare.
I learned how she took care of her hair here: http://edwardianpromenade.com/beauty/how-i-take-care-of-my-hair/ (I obviously don't do the singeing and dandruff cure from mercury as she suggests! shudder:)

probably, but I really hate "showing off your hair" videos and always have some prejudice, usually finding the creepy...
of course, this doesn't apply to youtubers such as torrine, she has very useful videos.. And she talks!! :D

Well, this place is a wonder source for inspiration. It helps to read others questions about hair care and what people do as a matter of habit for the intentional care of their hair.

Hopefully, this isn't too vain, but the longer my hair gets, the more I love it. So I guess I can say I'm my own inspiration. Or that my hair is my inspiration.

Also, because of this site, I appreciate seeing long hair on other people (always have) but now it's with a different lens. When I see people with pretty long hair, I know it's attainable and not just a "I'd like to have hair like that some day" thought.

As i could see he has very short hair and all of his videos are a bit ******y...I agree with you, especially in regards to the video in which he was alone with the girl as she was braiding her hair (http://www.youtube.com/user/humbleknightforever#p/u/2/NoyjMLrokV4). The video reminded me of those amateur porn videos in which creepy guys behind cameras direct exploited young girls. I am sorry if he is a regular here liked by some, but I was skeeved out.

Weirdly, my main inspiration is a memory of a woman I've never met. I was on holiday years ago and this woman had gorgeous red hair which reached her knees when braided. That's always stuck with me.

I'm not aiming for anything below BSL, or maybe waist, just yet, mind!

Ok, my inspiration is myself.

That sounds weird, but I had a picture from when I was about 20 and my hair was about BSL-waist. Since then I kept it shorter (shoulder) and I would always look back on that pic and be in envy of my own hair. SO I decided to grow. Now, as I am tempted to cut it back because of the...tedious...work my hair requires (washing, detangling takes me forever), I look at my own CURRENT pictures and say "wow, my hair is THAT long?" and I like the way it looks in pictures so I keep growing (it only feels about BSL). I know if I cut it, all I will do is look at those pics and say "my hair was so pretty, WHY did I cut it?" so....predicted regret inspires me to grow.

Since I have reached the longest-my-hair-has-ever-been stage, I almost feel like there is no going back. Almost like an addiction. And like the OP said, I am usually the longest haired person in the room and vanity makes me not want to give that up. Sure I see longer hair out and about, but it is not MY hair, and while I admire THEIR hair (especially long silky gray), only MY hair inspires me. Does that sound dumb? I LIKE my hair, I don't wish for someone else's. I like my color, my texture, my length...I am my own inspiration!

And yes, I am lazy, too, and ALWAYS hated doing my hair. Back in the 80's when I would spend 2 hours in the morning teasing my hiar just right and then checking in the mirror between classes in school...culing irons, hairspray, hair dryers...too much effort. If I feel frumpy, I throw it in a bun and am done. If not, I braid it. If it is a special occasion, I wear it down. Maybe. It is versatile, easy, and takes a fraction of the time short hair does (IMO). I have had all hair lengths up to this point (TBL) and all sorts of styles and I am not ME unless it is straight, blonde and long!

One of my inspirations comes from the artwork of Victoria Frances. I've always loved her artwork and quite a few of her pieces feature women with classic or longer hair that kind of resembles mine in a way because they have more fairytale type hemlines and since I have issues with my own hair being thinner at the ends it's nice to see how it can be turned into something beautiful instead of looked down upon as being ugly or unkempt hair.

I admire his long and thick hair.

After watching his "66 months of growth" video, I was inspired to make a braid, even though I had given-up braids because of thin hair.

My braid is much thicker than I remember! Thank you Little Bird for inspiring me to try again!

thay are his friends.. havent you ever done a friends hair, and arent you extra gentle with your friends hair? and he is just being extra careful not to hurt her just like any other friend who is doing a friends hair.. his behavior is very similar to how i am when i comb out my friend A's hair (except that i am constantly apologizing because i am always imagining that im hurting her when im not).. he isnt pawwing it he is trying to keep it smooth so it wont get wind damaged (if you look closely it was a windy day).. when hair is that long a gust of wind can be very problematic.. he is just trying to be careful.. his friends hair is important to her, he wouldnt want her to get breakage and be upset because some wind came by and wrecked her hair..

oh and i liked the braiding video because it shows how to braid longer hair.. my hair is starting to get difficult to braid due to the length and i found her use of her head as a clamp against her shoulder to be ingenious.. very instructive.. also he is talking about her grandma.. there is nothing more innocent than a cute little gramma.. or maybe its because my nonnie was so saintlike that i imagine all grandmothers to be sweet little old ladies who say "cheese and crackers" instead of swearing..

meh.. whatever.. im editing my original post in hopes that people will stop attacking my friend.. it makes me sad :(

Seriously!!! Mostly myself with ear length hair... Not cool, just not cool!! Plus my hair is the kind of the shorter it is, the curlier it gets... pixie curly hair was just not flattering to me...

I remember Europe 2001 as the year of the "boy cut" haircuts on women... I will never forget some people who cut their hair so short when they look really, really bad...I was one of those.
