Who has tried this one yet?
It is very similar to the 4 strand round braid aka boxbraid.
I've tried it and you can see a bit of a difference, but not much. The problem is my layers, they make it really hard to make a 6-strand braid.
I've put pictures in to compare. The first one is a boxbraid, the second a 6-strand one.

Instead of under 2, over 1, it is now: under 3, over 1

The fourth row here are all example pictures of the six strand:

I have tried it once, not as dutch though. To be honest the small difference between 4 box and 6 strand round braid was not worth the hassle for me. It looks great and such, but so does a 4 strand one, too. With my length it was just too looong work to finish it, the tip ended up looking pathetic due to the taper, it fuzzed out more quickly than the 4 strand version, too. So I´m sticking with the 4 strand version, if I want a box braid... lately I´m wearing more buns than braids anyway and the 4 strand box braid is a bit more flexible than the fatter 6 strand one > it´s easier to make a bun with it.

 but it looks cool on you and the small layer sticking out is almost not noticeable. Great work!

Actually, I have to agree with you. It was a lot of hassle, for almost the same braid.
But it was fun trying it and knowing you're able to do it.:)

Good job, Phalaenopsis! :flower: I think they both look great on you.
I haven't yet tried a 4-strand box braid, so that and its 6-strand sister will have to go on my list of braids To Do ... ;)

Your 6 strand braid is so much thicker and lovelier than mine has ever turned out. It really is beautiful. I find 6 strands exponentially more difficult to work with than 4 or 5, so I know just how difficult it is.

Yours turned out very beautifully. :cloud9:

Thank you all for the compliments, but actually, I was quite disappointed when I saw it in the mirror. The layers really ruin the look for me.
I would love to have it like in the braiding examples of dreamweaverbraiding, but those are very professional.

And I must say, my fingers almost got tangled up with this braid :p

It looks great and you can definately see the difference in thickness.

You're always at least one step ahead of me on braids :) I hadn't even thought about doing a 6 strand box. I've just about mastered keeping the strands apart for 5 strand braids, (I'm working on 5-strand classics at the moment) I'm not sure I have enough fingers for 6.
