Hello everyone, I'm Maria! I'm very glad there is such a beautiful place like this, where everyone is sharing and incentivating each other. Thumbs up!

Well I have a hair emergency... My hair is thin, grassy at the top and a little bit dry at tips (and they are fairy tale too... but nevermind), When I was a child I had natural golden blonde hair, and now it darkened A LOT, to brunette, I wanted to archieve a blond hair again, and I did it, it's quite healthy too, but is SO orange (it's like strawberry blond with orange and i have some dark roots wich make it look like a dirty hair), it can never be naturalish; Ive tried to find blue or at least purple shampoos but I couldn't. I'm from Chile. I want to AT LEAST solve this problem, It makes me so frustrated... I use chamomilla and sun and a little bit of peroxide to dye it.
Ok that's the emergency.
The other thing I want to ask you all is a dream I have of having silver or at least gray hair... without making hair looks like a ruined witch hair (with this I intend not much commercial products). Or at least something that could turn the hair very ashy or grayish or a natural product that could turn the hair WHITISH, not yellow. Like a gray wolf, with white, gray, silver hairs... I've already asked at some saloons and they've told me they will damage a lot my hair, because the ONE AND ONLY OPTION was dying it... I'm sure there must be something natural that gets close to the idea...

I hope you can help me... I will be SOOOOOOOO THANKFUL, It would also be helpful to know wich are the main ingredients for blue and purple shampoos, maybe I can make something bymyself...

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING. Have a great growth!
Maria:)

I am not a hair dye specialist but in my experience with dyeing my own hair at home, the only way to get away from the orange is to dye again with blonde dye but getting hair to even out in color can be very difficult. Pictures might help with more specific suggestions, but overall I'd recommend going to a salon if you can afford it so they can even out your color. They are expensive but they have plenty of experience with fixing box dye.

As for dying your hair silver or gray, the only way I know of to get a color close to it is with platinum blonde hair dye and lots of toner, followed up with blue/purple hair shampoo to keep the yellow away. I don't know what the active ingredients in those shampoos are but you could always try ordering from an online seller if they aren't locally available to you. HTH and good luck with the color.

The only thing I can think of is to go to a salon and have them see if they can over-dye your hair so it looks more natural. Many people who have dark hair started off as blondes as children, it seems to be a natural progression as you get older. As for the head full of silver hair, for it to look right, you may just need to wait till it happens naturally.

I'm not familiar with henna, I wonder if that would be something you would like.

LUSH make a purple shampoo, and because they use natural ingredients they might be your best bet if you want to try and make your own: http://www.lush.co.uk/k/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=51&category_id=486&option=com_virtuemart

I don't konw much about dye from experience but to get your hair white you basically have to remove all the pigment I think, generally destroying your hair. It's an extreme thing.

To get lighter hair, you need more peroxide. There are ways of making it less damaging, but it's still damaging. Same deal with gray hair till you're old! To avoid the "witch hair" look, my mother just has to use a lot of conditioner.

In regards to the brassiness, are there "roux rinse" type toners for blond hair? Those can be mixed with shampoo. Or even very diluted laundry bluing.

You could try going lighter with honey.

The completely natural way to get silver/gray hair is to wait for it. It's happening for me.

For you to get that color now, it would take bleach.

I hope this is helpful. You can find shampoos to whiten white hair in with horse shampoo. (we love our white horses to be white :) Also, look in the shampoo section at the pet store. These shampoos are made to pull out stains so be ready to condition.

Oh my god! I can't believe so many people answered me! Thank you all so much! You are all so kind. I guess I'll try to find something like blue shampoo's in the salons wich are frequented by older woman... they could maybe have something...
I want the gray silver things on the tips, so my hair still's healthy at the top.
I think is not such a terrible orange, but when it's dirty it's awful; how should I put the ashy blond on my head for receive only the pigment but not bleaching the hair?
I'll look for the horse shampoo too.
You've all gaved me great ideas!
Again, thank you all so much!!!

I had the exact issue this past July. I used various blue shampoos and conditioners which helped very little. Then I had 2 different colorists try to lighten the orangey pieces... Which didn't work because it was still brassy. In September and October I used an ash toner which worked very well but waded out quickly.
Then I tried to darken my roots only for the ombré effect- which I love but apparently not all colorists know how to do it because she just dyed the crown a darker color instead of gradually fading it. 5 dats later I dyed it all dark... Ahhhh!

Sorry for the long rant, but I hope my experience with this issue prevents you from ruining your hair, like I did.

I would either use a toner or make it all one color. If u keep adding high and low lights, the brassiness will still show and drive u nuts. Good luck!!

Well... since I did not bleacher nor dyed my hair with chemicals it's quite healthy, I guess that if I go to a salon they will bleach it, and I have the feeling that they'll leave it too yellow, brassy, and damaged; that's why I don't trust salons. I only use chamomilla, never tried lemon or honey, maybe they leave different tonalities. I used peroxide, but quited it, it was damaging the natural oleosity of my hair.
What are toners? Or wich is the spanish translation?
I'll be very busy with the honey thread, I love honey heehee.

Gracias a todos! Maria
