How long is your hair *in inches*?

Often people will record their length on LHC using body parts like APL/waist/TB but this is a measurement that can be "faulty" when discussing hair health as well as time and patience.

For example: If person A is 6'0" they may only get to waist length at 34" but a person who is at TB can have shorter hair. Their hair is however older and so it needs the same degree of care. This can also apply to those with shrinkage from volume or curl.

Using the LHC method of measurement, my hair is 26" when stretched. That falls at BSL on me. Unstretched it's much shorter, between 23-24.5" and a little below APL.

I have no idea. Measuring my hair in inches is faulty. One month it's longer, the next month (or even the next day), it's shorter. I find visual markers like body parts much more useful. That's what other perceive when they see the length of hair. They don't think "Wow, there's some lovely 39-inch hair." They see it as hip length or butt length or whatever.

My hair is about 38", which is sneaking past tailbone on me.

Tell anyone away from this forum that your hair is 38" and they'll think you're potty. The public would generally think in terms of body markers, or extensions which are root to tip, not hairline backwards.

32", which is around hip for me (I'm pretty short). I only measure every once in a while, but I just happened to measure the other day. I trimmed about an inch a month or so ago.

Ditto spidermom and enfys - if I measure several times in one session I get a different result every time. I last tried it after a trim two months ago, and I got several around the 33" mark (which is waist on me). I find the body markers easier to monitor actual growth.

I doubt TB is 36" on me sadly. I have a high waist but I am 5'9"... if I had to eye ball it, I would *guess* TB is at 40". I would have to measure though to be sure.

I agree with this. Measuring is never perfectly accurate, and is even less so for anyone with any wave or curl to their hair. I stopped measuring a while ago because it was sort of pointless, other than it telling me "yes, your hair has grown some".

If I had to guess, I'm around 32", past waist, above hip.

It's more important for me to see the layman terms such as BSL, APL and waist because it's how it works with the body. I could care less about the length. You are what you are, but as you hit each part on your body, it really looks different and that's the beauty of it (al though I prefer as long as possible hair that isn't on the floor)

I'm 23" at the mo, which is exactly APL for me - I get what some people are saying about body-related measurements being the only really meaningful gauge of length/progress, but when you're *willing* your hair to grow, progress towards the next *marker* can seem awfully slow, and I guess measuring accurately can help you feel like you are getting somewhere...!
