View Full Version : How long will your hair be in one years time?

Dreamkitty
November 17th, 2010, 04:23 PM
:D I just thought this would be a fun thread to visualize how long everyone's hair will be roughly in one years time. (November 2011).

Assuming hair grows the average rate at 1/2 inch per month, how long would your hair be?

I calculated mine. Right now Im 24 inches, hopefully, one year later I should reach 30 inches, which would be hitting waist length for me. I can't imagine myself with this length as it will be the very first time maintaining hair past APL. :)

I'm at 24" as well so I should be around 30". Hopefully all goes according to plan!

enfys
November 17th, 2010, 04:28 PM
42.5", accounting for scheduled trims.

Without trimming it would be 44" but I want to gradually get rid of my layers. Over three years...

November 17th, 2010, 04:28 PM
Well let's see...I'm around 31.5 inches now so in another year, even with a couple micro trims, I should be at tailbone, I hope.:p

firefly42
November 17th, 2010, 04:28 PM
about 29ish inches? hopefully as i think that would be about waist length for me.

spidermom
November 17th, 2010, 04:31 PM
Classic length because I'll be maintaining there. Otherwise the ends would fall slightly north of mid-thigh.

November 17th, 2010, 04:34 PM
My hair grows between 3/4 and 1" a month. So if all goes well, I should be at my goal of 23" by this time next year, barring scissors.

GrowingGlory
November 17th, 2010, 04:34 PM
Without trims, my hair will be 23" long.

Monkie
November 17th, 2010, 04:53 PM
With trims, my hair should be at collarbone, I'm not sure how many inches that would be, it grows fairly fast, around 8" a year. :)

freckles
November 17th, 2010, 04:55 PM
without trims, I could *maybe* be close to tailbone, but since I plan on trimming, I'm hoping to be at hip :)

Darian Moone
November 17th, 2010, 04:59 PM
If I leave the scissors alone it will be waist. We shall see. :D

Avvoltoio
November 17th, 2010, 04:59 PM
i may my hair will continue the 6-8 inch grow / year(with the mini trims)
so i may my hair will be longer than 42-44 inch

Madora
November 17th, 2010, 05:00 PM
God willing, 45 inches..maybe a smidgen more.

pepperminttea
November 17th, 2010, 05:07 PM
39" without trims, which is an inch shy of tailbone on me. However, with a trim or two, I'll probably be closer to 37" and not far past hip. Hopefully! :)

Tia2010
November 17th, 2010, 05:07 PM
Well it's (top of ) BSL now...so in a year hopefully I will be closing in on waist , maybe ? I don't know I'm new at this :) I really have no idea how fast my hair grows yet ( I think it's about average) so I will have to wait and see.

terrylillyd
November 17th, 2010, 05:12 PM
I'm not sure how many inches (I don't have anything to measure with) but my hair should be to my hips by then if I don't trim.

embee
November 17th, 2010, 05:14 PM
Just at classic, which appears to be term for me. With one or two hairs actually reaching a bit beyond...

Feng-Shui
November 17th, 2010, 05:15 PM
I will not know it exactly.

In the spring 2011 I will reach my final goal knee length with 55 inches.

And there I the length maintained so long it me pleases.

With knee length I will begin stop growth and trims regularly.:)

November 17th, 2010, 05:18 PM
My hair seems to grow about .8" a month, so in another year I should have grown 9.6", and I should be about 3.5.". I have a long torso, so I have no idea where that would be. I'm thinking of trimming at least once in the next year, though, so who knows.

November 17th, 2010, 06:35 PM
Mine will be APL if I dont get too much curl shrinkage, and "God willing" is such a great phrase ... :)

Hotrox
November 17th, 2010, 06:41 PM
I'll be at about 28" this time next year :D

which technically will be about BSL, but I guess it will look more like APL allowing for a bit of curl boing

AnnaJamila
November 17th, 2010, 07:05 PM
I should be around 33 inches which should be waist length! Or just past, if I'm REALLY lucky... ;)

SarahBeth
November 17th, 2010, 07:09 PM
My hair is currently 20.5". I was at 23" but I cut 2.5" inches of hated layers recently. My hair grows about .75" to 1" a month. So in a year I'll be 29.5" to 32.5".Waist is 30" for me. My goal is waist or hip. I haven't decided yet. I have very healthy virgin hair and don't use heat or any chemicals on it, so I hope no trims will be needed until goal. But I will sacrifice a little length to maintain healthy ends.

xoxophelia
November 17th, 2010, 07:24 PM
This is always a tricky thing to answer for me. I usually just feel things out and then make a plan for the next 3 months due to hair that had been colored (and hence damaged) as well as left over V from layers. I would LIKE to gain 4" so I am no longer at what I consider to be a slightly awkward length on my body which won't even put me at hip.

(but then of course it is tempting to say "to heck with it" and just grow ;))

Angeletti
November 17th, 2010, 07:25 PM
Classic length with (hopefully) nice thick ends. I'm only a few inches from classic at the moment but plan on maintaining as soon as I reach it so I can get my dream hair.

Maybe APL, if my growing streak continues.

November 17th, 2010, 07:27 PM
A bit passed my bum exciting thought

silverjen
November 17th, 2010, 07:35 PM
Maybe APL, maybe not, if I don't trim. But my layers are raggedy, and I kinda have to at least try to look professional at work. So, a healthy shoulder length plus a bit is more realistic. Oh well. Quality not quantity, right?

JulietCapulet
November 17th, 2010, 07:36 PM
With any luck somewhere near my waist. God willing.

CrisDee
November 17th, 2010, 07:48 PM
I should be at about APL in the front, and maybe just below BSL in the back! :cheese:

And yes, God willing - I keep thinking of KDaniels, who had lovely waist length hair, and then got cancer. Chemo. Now growing from zero. We just never know what the future holds for us - and that's often a good thing...

Shooting for BSL or a bit longer.........but who knows. These layers are haunting me.

luckyduck
November 17th, 2010, 07:58 PM
I should be at least to 36 inches by next year. That will be around BCL I think.

girlcat36
November 17th, 2010, 08:04 PM
I'm at 27" right now, so with no trims I would be 33" next November. But that will never happen.
My hair sheds so much that I must trim to neaten up the thin ends. So I'm guessing I will be at 31" next November. Anything more than that is bonus!

Synthemesc
November 17th, 2010, 08:10 PM
Taking trims into account, should be around BSL. Now that's an exciting thought. :P

Mine will be a little past waist assuming the current growth rate stays the same.

about 25 inches if im lucky and i dont chop my hair in the proccess but im not going to chop because im like craving long hair lol

November 17th, 2010, 08:19 PM
I'm at tailbone now but plan to cut two inches next month so I guess that would put me around classic.

Coan-Teen
November 17th, 2010, 08:22 PM
Assuming average growth, I will be at... 22 inches, which I hope will be close to APL on me, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for above average growth. :D I'm going the no-trim route if I can help it and since my hair is in good condition now I think I may be able to get away with it for at least a year, maybe two if I'm really careful.

Florida Mom
November 17th, 2010, 08:24 PM
I am just past TB now, so hopefully near Classic. :)

sarahramen
November 17th, 2010, 08:24 PM
if i were to grow exactly 6 inches no trims i would be at 31 inches or full waist

Mairéad
November 17th, 2010, 08:24 PM
Without trims I'd be at 21" by this time next year, but I do trim every few months. I'm not in a rush.

I have an unusually high waist, so 26" is all it will take for me to get to waist length.

Rivanariko
November 17th, 2010, 08:29 PM
If I assume 6" over the next year, that should put me somewhere around classic by next year, maybe slightly beyond. It's hard to for me to gauge my growth as it seems to go in spurts. It grew like CRAZY the last two summers, but last winter I got a pretty hard stall. I don't know if that's my body's normal cycle or not. Either way, I'm praying for classic by next June, as that's when we're tentatively thinking of having our wedding :) I would love to have classic length hair by then.

teela1978
November 17th, 2010, 08:34 PM
Figuring in a couple trims probably somewhere between tailbone and classic... I'm not really sure I want to go that long though...

princessp
November 17th, 2010, 08:36 PM
My hair grows about .75-1 inch each month. Calculating .5 growth each month would put me at 40" this time next year. Cool! As long as my hair doesn't stall I should be able to at least get there even with some small trims to thicken my hemline. I believe that would put me somewhere between TB and classic. :) hooray (in advance)!

ETA: Just measured and 40" is definitely at classic awesomeness! Double hooray!! I think that is where I will maintain, but who knows.

Annushka
November 17th, 2010, 09:42 PM
I guess I would be at classic :D
But since my ends are so thin and damaged, I'll probably continue to trim. I'm an inch from tailbone now, so hopefully in a year I'll be at tailbone with a much nicer hemline.

Stephichan
November 17th, 2010, 09:50 PM
I usually have a 1"+ per month growth rate, so taking that into account and if I don't trim at all, then I should be at about 28-29", which is somewhere below bsl... I think. It may be closer to waist for me, not sure.

Jules diamond
November 17th, 2010, 09:57 PM
If my hair grew at 1/2 a month then I'd be at 36'' this time next year. That would be an amazing length for me. :D

Sadly, I'm going to be doing some trimming to even out the ends of a bad hime cut from a few years back, along with the last two inches of dyed hair and my hair is very slow growing most of the year, so if I'm at 33 I'll be happy.

triumphator!
November 17th, 2010, 09:59 PM
If I do the average growth rate, I will be at 25 inches. If I get the same dramatic growth spurt in the winter like I did last year, I will be at 27.5!

Fingers crossed :)

November 17th, 2010, 10:13 PM
Past BSL but not quite at waist is my guess. I dont know the exact measurement of my hair, but it is a bit past APL.

Hopefully mid-back length.

Waist, I think... Unless my math is terrible, something unforeseen happens, or I get dumb and trim. All of which are distinct possibilities.

mellie89
November 18th, 2010, 12:37 AM
I'm also at 24 inches now, so I'll be at 30 too! Only I plan on trimming a half-inch every three months, so I'll actually be at 28. It's so exciting to think about! I think it will finally be longer than it's ever been in my life! :D

Irnann
November 18th, 2010, 12:51 AM
With some micro trims i should be at 39". That will be tailbone for me.

November 18th, 2010, 02:20 AM
At waist length! But I've been maintaining a no trim regimen for a year+ now, so the dreaded day may come some day soon when I'll have to try out self trimming. :justy:

FrannyG
November 18th, 2010, 03:21 AM
Well, I am on a trim plan that is allowing me to cut out damage, but still grow. I'm just below the bottom of BSL now, and I'll be at waist length by next summer. I'm thinking about maintaining at waist for a while to cut out the rest of the damage, so I'll likely be at waist this time next year, but with a better hemline. :hollie:

November 18th, 2010, 03:37 AM
Assuming 6'' (mine actually grows a little faster) I'll be at 50''! Thats an exciting number.

emsahib
November 18th, 2010, 03:39 AM
Oo this is quite fun. I think I grew 4 inches in six months if it carries on the same I'd be 2 inches away from waist. Although that would be without trims and I may want to start cutting off some of my layers. But waist would be amazing! :D

redneckprincess
November 18th, 2010, 03:52 AM
Well, I'm between APL and BSL right now 22" or so.
Thinking with no trims and god-willing my hair (at 7"/year growth) should be about 29" and that's almost waist length on me. Though I will probally be willing to get rid of these STUPID layers by then. (I'm thinking for New Years 2012 since I don't really want to grow longer then waist (if that) anyways.

Monsterkitti
November 18th, 2010, 05:28 AM
Im hoping to be at hip by Nov2011. I have some trimming to do to get rid of my layers though so it might be somewhere between waist and hip depedning on how much I have to take off.

mrs_coffee
November 18th, 2010, 06:08 AM

November 18th, 2010, 06:33 AM
My hair grows super slow and it's about 2 inches past BSL. I'm hoping it'll be a good solid waist length. I'd be super duper thrilled if it got to hip, but that's unlikely.

Zaane
November 18th, 2010, 07:04 AM
Hopefully I'll be past waist by then! My hair is around 30" right now so maybe 36"? I don't plan on trimming but if my ends start looking really jacked up....it might have to happen :(

curlylocks85
November 18th, 2010, 07:47 AM
I am APL now, I hope to be full BSL by next year. Here's hoping.

chelseamichelle
November 18th, 2010, 08:07 AM
My hair is just under 29" right now, so by November 2011 it should be 35"!! That however is without trims, and also assuming I don't have any growth issues like I did this year..

35" would put me just past hip :)

*Seraphina*
November 18th, 2010, 08:08 AM
I hope it will be at BSL in one your. With some luck it will!

In one year, if I don't trim, I'll be around waist with stretched hair. Unstretched I might be a little lower than BSL.

SilvraShadows
November 18th, 2010, 08:36 AM
My hair grows the average rate, so presently at 28 inches... a year from now I should be at 34 inches, an inch past my second goal. 30 inches being my first.

I'll take that! Hit two goals in one year, now that would be something else! It only took me six years to achieve my first goal of 26 inches

verene
November 18th, 2010, 08:52 AM
My hair is an inch or two shy of tailbone right now, and I'd like to maintain a bit once I reach there. So for this time next year I'm hoping for tailbone with a neater and thicker hemline than my hair currently has.

November 18th, 2010, 08:56 AM
Hi everyone. I'm new here! I'm hoping to get between BSL and waist length by next christmas (perhaps brushing waist). Unfortunately waist is a whopping 33" on me because I'm tall...*sigh* I'm currently at 26" and not even at BSL yet! I'm hoping to gain the knowledge and wisdom at LHC to get me there :)

jujube
November 18th, 2010, 09:17 AM
Hopefully between shoulder and APL.

lajsa
November 18th, 2010, 09:31 AM
If I say my hair grows 0.5 inches a month (I don't actually know my growth rate... :o) I'll grow six inches in one year, which means I'll get to 33 inches, which is... below waist, somewhere near hip-ish for me :D But I believe I have breakage at my ends or something since it seems to grow very slowly even as I see my henna creeping down from my roots, so I probably won't get that far in one year :p

ironbutterfly
November 18th, 2010, 01:42 PM
I am at 24 inches right now so if my hair grows at the average rate I should be at 30 inches by this time next year which will be waist length on me! Yay! I cannot wait! I am so excited it's almost like having a baby lol!

Armelle

~42" long.
BUT...I've just gone through a major stall recently so I don't count on my hair being anywhere specific (except attached to my head :D) by any certain time. According to the .5" per month growth average (and I WAS averaging that until the stall), I should've reached nearly 40" by now. :) I'm okay though, I just need to improve my nutrition and vitamin intake!

Kome
November 18th, 2010, 03:49 PM
I should be at hip length. My estimated time for waist is the summer of 2011 and for tailbone the summer of 2012, so I guess hip sounds about right? Either way... I'm excited! A year later is a year closer to my goal! :)

feralnature
November 18th, 2010, 04:06 PM
With average growth and no trims, I should be at 34 inches, so easily waist or a bit past waist.

I hate measuring my hair with a measuring tape, but my hair would probably be at BSL in a yr from now.

HoneyJubilee
November 20th, 2010, 09:44 PM
If my hair grows an average of .5" each month, it should be around 29" a year from now, which is a bit past waist for me. I've never kept track of my monthly growth, though so I don't know if .5" is normal for me. I just measured for the first time Thursday, so it will be interesting to see how much my hair has grown next time I measure.

November 21st, 2010, 02:05 AM
Last year my hair had grown 10 cm (only...:() so I think they will be at my goal lenght, tailbone (80 cm), in fact now i'm at waist (70 cm) :)

DivineComedian
November 21st, 2010, 02:27 AM
I hope it'll be nearly at waist by Nov 2011. The amount of growth I need to get from where I am now to waist is about the same amount that my hair's grown since last September, when it was at Shoulder Length, (and that's with regular, substantial cuts and treating it pretty roughly until the last few months) so my goal seems pretty realistic I think. :)

butterflycayton
November 21st, 2010, 06:47 AM
I'm at 26 inches now barley and have been stalled at 25 for acouple of months. So a year from now should be at 31, a little past waist.

janeytilllie
November 21st, 2010, 07:32 AM

If I didn't trim my hair, it would probably be 45 inches in a year. My hair grows fast. But I keep it trimmed at about 36 inches--hip length on my tall frame.

Avital88
November 21st, 2010, 08:58 AM
I'm at 31 inch now so in a year with average growth it will be 37 inch, but heeey i dont do average growing.. :D I think i will at least be able to get 40" by this time next year as my hair grows a little les then an inch a month.

xladolcevitax
November 21st, 2010, 09:00 AM
Without trims, it will be past waist and nearly hip which is my goal! I think I might trim a bit (not more than half an inch) though in April 2011 as then i will have gone for a whole year without a trim, which was a promise to myself so i could gain as much length as possible.

Its so exciting to think about my hair being that long! Its never been that long before (longest was waist years ago) Ive been on LHC for nearly a year now and have gone from APL to midback and that year has flown by so i will be at my goal before i know it :)

If I had no plans to trim I would be at 38.5 inches in a year. I'll be trimming in Jan and we'll see if I can go another year without trims. So Probably 37 inches. I will be just inches away from Tailbone!

aada
November 21st, 2010, 10:30 AM
In a year, I'll be at roughly 30", including about 1/2" of trims, if needed. Which is only 4"/ short of my first major major goal (waist-ish)! :D
This realization is utterly amazing to me.

Probably around BSL. My goal right now is to grow to BSL (or somewhere between APL and BSL) and maintain there for a bit while improving the hemline.

MinderMutsig
November 21st, 2010, 04:24 PM
If the past month is anything to go by and my hair keeps growing at this rate I will have gained about 12-15 inches. (Not taking trims into account) That would make it around 34 inches which is close to waist on me.

I never measured my hair before so I only have one months worth of weekly measurements to go by but I don't feel my hair grew exceptionally fast.

RocketDog

My hair grows really fast like .75" to 1" per month so if my hair is 21-22" now, it should be around 30", assuming my growth doesn't slowdown.

I'm really hoping to be at least approaching waist a year from now. I would love to BE at waist, but I don't think that is possible. I'm not planning on trimming until at LEAST April next year, but we'll see if it's needed at that point. Either way, I'm looking forward to the journey.

I'd guess about 25 in. - which would be about BSL - which is my goal. :-)

It will probably be the same. It was the same last year as now. So yes the same unless it has a spontaneous growth spurt. My longest hairs are likely at terminal as they did not grow back after a trim.

Most of my hair is about three or four inches short of classic right now, so I should definitely be at classic in a year, even allowing for trimming. The shorter bits underneath that used to be dreadlocks should be around bra-strap length. I can't wait for them to grow out!

To waist curly, baby!

I'm shoulder length now so it has to be...Almost BSL?

With factoring in the curliness, probably SL but APL stretched out, on my way to waist!

I should be at tailbone a year from now, or somewhere near it.

November 25th, 2010, 11:55 AM
I should be at waist, maybe a little over!

You're making me all excited because that's where I want to maintain it. lol.

Mine would be 36"- a little past tailbone. However, because I trim, I'll probably be at more like 34", which just skims the top of my jeans.

I should be at 35", which is back to full hip. Yeay! This time I will stick to my hair regimen and leave the heat and chemicals alone.

My goal I hope! I really want waist then I can try so many more 'do's.

At waist length! But I've been maintaining a no trim regimen for a year+ now, so the dreaded day may come some day soon when I'll have to try out self trimming. :justy:

Agreed, I haven't cut in over a year and I think that I might have to break down and cut off some old crappy ends soon... writing that made me want to go condition for a couple hours haha :D

Well..... its taken 7 months to get from shoulder to almost APL (an inch away) so i guess i'll be BSL!! (I want to keep it at that length for a while and grow out my layers then :))

November 25th, 2010, 12:45 PM
It will be at almost BSL, probably :D

I am at 23 right now, so given 0.5" p/m that should be 29" which is just shy of waist length for me... and hopefully in fabulous condition!!! That is pretty much exactly how long I want it, how exciting!

With any luck, my hair will grow some, but the way its going I will be happy to just gain 6 inches of virgin hair leaving the over all length between 40 and 42 and the virgin at APL or so.... if it were up to me, I would have more hair growing over all, but my hair has a mind of its own.

UltraBella

My hair will probably be the same length as it us now, or several inches shorter. It's getting to the point where it is a lot to deal with and I think a large trim is coming......

I think m ine will be to my calfs but I know I will end up cutting it to above my knees  Hopefully I can leave my hair alone and just let them grow no matter how thin the ends are but I doubt that very much.

My hair grows very slowly, and I am probably near terminal length, but I hope that I can accomplish at least another inch or two. My hair keeps surprising me, since I thought I had reached terminal length long ago. I would love to achieve waist length hair.

Options:
1. Classic-ish
2. Same as now (hip)
3. Waist
4. ?

I really don't know what I'll end up doing. I do know that I'm probably never going shorter than APL ever again.

Hopefully longer than it is right now if I can stay away from the:scissors:

My hair is uniform layered (every hair on my head is the same length), as I've grown it out from short hair. Right now my hair is almost at my chin at the front. Once longer, in May, I'm getting an all one length cut. It will probably be a inch or two below my chin when it's cut in May, so hopefully by next November, it will be collarbone length!

Mine (without trims) will be about 32 inches. That would be around waistline for me. My dream length! However, it always hard to go without trims or dusting because my hair damages easily. I'm thinking about wearing it up more often to avoid this. Joining one of those challenge threads, you know? But I LOVE having my hair down so it is difficult. Waistline please come soon hehe!

If I decide not to cut, I'd say BSL+

My hair hasn't increased in length for well over ten years, so it will be the same as it is now.

I'm a little over 6 inches now, so in a year's time I should be 12... except sometimes I can prompt faster growth like I did this past summer, so hopefully 14! ^_^

November 26th, 2010, 11:59 PM
Should be around 23 inches in a year from now, I am NOT trimming during 2011 so it SHOULD get there!

Well, I haven't measured this month. (I just didn't get around to it; I'll probably measure on the 1st.) And my hair seems to grow faster than 1/2" a month. But if that were its average growth rate, it'd be 43.5" next October, so I guess 44" next November.

Hoping for waist!

I do plan on having bangs cut, maybe a few layers sometime in the spring, just for something different without losing all of the length I've been working so hard for.

I'm hoping for a better hemline, and maybe classic (if I don't trim too much!) probably a solid mid-butt length :)

Hopefully close to 50" I am at 43" now maybe a small trim before the new year. I would love to get to knee and beyond. grow grow grow for everyone.
