Heat styling or velcro rollers?

What's the lesser of 2 evils? :( My hair is a fraction of what it was just earlier this year, and braiding just...it doesn't end up looking right, it somehow makes it look thinner :cry:

I'm thinking my options are blow drying (not something I'm a fan of at all, I can never get it perfectly right) or using my large barrel curling iron (I have lots of heat protectants), or getting some velcro rollers. I just want my hair smooth, ends turned in, maybe with some volume.

Have you thought of a Caruso Hairsetter ? Volume like crazy ! I love mine with a passion. I only use the larger sized curlers so my hair is smoothed, ends curled and I can't live without it :)
I think Velcro rollers are EVIL, just my own personal opinion. I think they are terrible for your hair and very damaging.

I'll have to see if foam roller come in the large size I'm thinking of, I have some smaller ones (that give Shirley Temple-esque results :/ ).

I had a caruso system. One of the first I think way back in 1987. I used it a lot. My hair was shorter then, but I loved the curls. They stayed for days. When we recently moved I tossed it! I should have kept the rollers! Arrghhh. I didn't even think it was still available. I may have to invest in another one.

I will agree that velcro rollers are evil. They ruined my hair. Damage everywhere I used them.

The "magnetic" plastic rollers work well to get that smooth, voluminous look with curled ends. Tutorial for doing a wet-set here. (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=1499)
