View Full Version : How often do you wash your hair?

I just realized I only wash mine about once per week now (more out of laziness than anything else!). I do heat style it sometimes after washing it but the curl or waves (or whatever I am trying to achieve) will stay for the week so I figure that isn't too bad, is it?? (Note that I use a heat protectant when I heat style too)

You might really like the 'stretching washes' thread :) Lots of interesting stuff...

If it works for you, that's awesome & all that matters :)

I had the hardest time stretching washes (love washing my hair!), but now I have it down to 2x/week (Wed. & Sun.).

I am a 2x per week person also. Especially in the winter because I don't like what a blowdryer does to my hair.

I wash when it seems like I need to. Since I have ADHD and keeping track of it is not really a priority, I don't know how often that actually is--probably about once a week?

I CO-wash almost everyday. I'll usually take a day or 2 off every week depending on how tired I am in the morning, though. I'm not consistent, but my hair seems to be liking what I'm doing so far. :)

I wash my hair twice a week (sunday and wednesday) :) I think I've done a pretty good job training my hair to get not so oily!

There's a time zone difference, but we wash our hair the same time :cheese:

I don't mind washing my hair but the drying time puts me off and I worry about the damage my hair being wet unneccessarily could cause; my hair is far weaker when wet.

I've no plans to stretch my washes further unless I am ill or something!

I'm at everyday right now, but I'm cutting it down to every other day since it's Winter.

:cheese: Me too! :)

I also had a hard time cutting down the washes....I used to wash every second day, but I bet the constant swelling and shrinking of the hair shaft cannot be too good for it..may as well minimize that as much as possible.

The longest I'm willing to leave my hair without washing is two days. That's the least often I'm willing to shower as well, so it just seems to make sense to wash my hair at the same time as my body. I feel grubby otherwise.

once a week. Only my scalp and I let the shampoo run through the length when I rinse.

I wash my hair every other day or every 2 days, depending on what I'm doing :)

Once a week. I don't really like washing my hair more often because it's kind of a production and takes so long to dry, so I'm happy I've been able to stretch it out that long. :D

About every five days. It used to be every other day.

I wash my hair everyday, I don't find it weaker wet, but dry, because, well it's drier...I probably not being clear enough, I'm sorry. If I comb my hair in a rush while dry sometimes I hear it break, never when wet.

I wash my hair twice a week, i think it is more than enough for it, cause my hair is dry, and i think the too frequent wash makes it more dry

I was it every two days, because my roots get oily, I'm trying to extend this to every three days, and in the end get back to once a week as I did when I had really long hair.

My goal is 1-2 times a week. I currently wash every two days. But I get really get confused with this. lol
If I wash every other day is that every 2 days? Its obviously not every day. ::confused:: If I wash Monday morning and then again Thursday morning is that considered 3 or 4 days?

If it works for you do it! I wash my hair around 3 times a week and sometimes Ive missed 5 days then wash and it has not done me harm :D

Every 3 days worksthe best for me right now.
Not so long ago I had to wash my hair every other day though. But since I switched to diluting my shampoo with water and wearing my hair up more, the transition from every 2 days to every 3 days happened naturally :cheese:

Once a week, scalp only. Works great for me.

I wash it whenever I think it needs to be washed, even more than once in a day if it gets really dirty (if I've been working in the garden, for example). Lazy I am not.

I try and leave three night between washing my hair - I have a shower everyday but just wear a super attractive shower cap when I'm not washing my hair!
It's not really intentional - it's just that I can't be bothered because my hair takes SO long to dry!

I wash my hair usually 2x a week. Sometimes I will feel lazy & only wash it once a week.

I'm trying to cut down to 1-2 times per week since it's colder and my ends seem to be happier if I don't wash daily(which is my scalp's preference).

I can't CO wash because my scalp gets gunky and I get dryness and buildup on the ends of my hair. So I use shampoo & conditioner when I wash.

Right now though it's like every other day to every 2 days.

Usually every second day; sometimes every third day. :)

I wash it about once a week with shampoo. I should CO wash it once a week as well but somehow I rarely do.

I wash every other day but now that I'm on the 'natural hair color' path, it's becoming more and more difficult. Since my virgin hair is darker, it looks dirtier if I don't wash everyday.

I 'need' to wash my hair about twice a week right now, though I would love to stretch that to once a week. But depending on circumstances, sometimes it can be three times a week.

Once a week

embee
November 14th, 2010, 07:25 AM
As seldom as possible!

The drying time is inconvenient - too cold in winter and stops me from working in the garden in summer! I wear my hair up except when drying, and it's a big pain to have this hair floating around everywhere getting tangled up in things! ;)

At the moment I'm seeing what I can do with NW/SO. Not sure it's going to work yet.

I wash mine every other day. Sometimes I will stretch that a little longer, but I feel like my hair is pretty greasy and gross when I do that. I would like to work up to only washing twice a week, but I don't know if that's possible in a Louisiana summer.

Everyday!!! My hair is fine and wavy; it gets greasy & difficult to control if not washed. It dries fast too.

I wash it twice or three times a week, depending on if there are any special occasions that needs neat hair.
If I don't wash after 4 days, my hair seems to shed significantly more. So I'm not currently planning to stretch washes.

I wash & condition about 3 times per week.
No kind of blow fryer, curling iron, or straightener, etc.

Although I haven't been doing it, I really need to start some kind of deep treatment kind of thing though on a weekly basis. (Note to self:p)

I wash when it needs it, really. That usually ends up being 2-3 times a week.

Every other day, CWC with Wash step on scalp only. If I'm lucky enough to have washed on a Friday, I go the rest of the weekend without washing. If I'm sick & get to stay at home. . . I dunno, a week or more. My scalp is quite oily, and on straight dark hair, I just can't pull of stretching washes without looking greasy.

I tend to CO wash every day or every other day, and sometimes I'll replace a CO with WO to eventually progress into full WO.

Lately I have been washing once a week, but since I have been working out 3-5 days a week, I've noticed my scalp isn't very happy with this method, although my hair is okay with it. So I will be going back to twice a week (Wed and Sat) and see how that plays out. I also need to use the CWC method. I keep forgetting about that one...
