I only eat meat about once a week. So I just picked omnivore.

I voted Herbavore. Pretty much a vegeterian, but I do eat salmon from time to time, so that would make me a Hernivore or Ormbavore. LMAO :D

I put omnivore because I like veggie food but I also love meat when I crave it.

I'm not a carnivore though; I can barely touch raw meat shudder:

Omnivore. If it's edible, I'll eat it.

November 10th, 2010, 12:00 PM
I based my response on what I crave as opposed to what I actually eat. I used to be completely vegan, but my body rebelled. Then I was a lacto-vegetarian, but in the past few years, I have developed a major need and love of fish. So omnivore it is.

I am an omnivore, but one that is very specific. I eat vegetables, greens, fruit, fungi, meat poultry, some seafood, and small amounts of legumes, but I can't eat any rice, grains, potatoes(or their derivatives), dairy products, eggs, or soy.

I have a very rare auto-immune disease that affects my stomach, a great deal, and although anything I eat causes me pain, the foods in my can't eat list just make it unbearable.

I would like to be vegetarian, but because of my dietary restrictions, it just isn't possible. And I do enjoy cooking with flesh foods, so I guess that is okay, it isn't as though I dislike the taste of meat.

I put omnivore although I hardly eat meat. My protein of choice is eggs but I do eat meat when I feel like it. I just hardly ever eat it, not for any specific reason, I just don't really like meat that much. Steak is my fav. meat though!! Not really a chicken eater!

Omnivore here. In practice I tend to be a little closer to herbivore with eggs and cheese added but I do love meat and occasionally crave a steak (medium rare). I will eat steak tartare, aka cannibal sandwiches or raw beef and onions, when it is available but don't fix it myself.

I don't eat meat, land dwelling. I do eat things from the sea, though. Everything else goes, as long as it tastes good. So I'm still an omnivore....

I said I 'm a carnivore. Plants are what the food eats. Teehee, I kid... sorta. I only eat veggies because they are good for me, not because I like them.

I chose omnivore. I tend eat eggs a lot more than meat, and I'm working on eating more vegetables & fruits. My main diet for many years has consisted primarily of grains and dairy.

I'd say I'm a weak omnivore. I do eat meat, but not that often. Maybe a few ounces a week, if that. I like some meat, but not in large quantities. Most of the time I don't eat what my family eats (they like meat). I eat vegan a lot of the time, actually (but I know I'm not vegan!). :p

Herbivore. Yay.

Nipushiau
November 10th, 2010, 03:02 PM
I picked omnivore because I really like my salads. (My salads usually contain lots of freshly cooked bacon bits, cheese, and egg.) I tried going vegan for about a month and a half, but with my family's particular biological quirks, being vegetarian or vegan just makes me feel sick and weak.

I tend to do very well, health-wise, on something like Atkins or some form of Paleo diet. Grains are bad for me, as is excessive sugar.

Where's the "I only eat CHEESE" option? :p :D

Shellby
November 10th, 2010, 04:17 PM
I chose omnivore. I love meat. I mean I really, really, love meat. I love veggies, too. I eat some cheese. NO milk! Milk very bad for me. I have discovered coconut milk and that has been my replacement for all things dairy, (except cheese). Cream in my coffee, milk on my cereal, yogurt, etc. all made from coconut milk. My tummy is much happier.

I don't think a human living as a carnivore (a only meat diet) could survive. Most of us are either herbivores or omnivores.

omnivore - but I eat very little veggies.

The list of veggies I will eat is very tiny (corn in it's veg form, bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes but only as a sauce, and sometimes carrots and I like peas in fried rice).
I eat a lot more variety when it comes to fruit.

If it's meat, I'll eat it usually. Fish, chicken, pork, cow (hamburger, steaks, you name it), veal and lamb.

I don't think a human living as a carnivore (a only meat diet) could survive. Most of us are either herbivores or omnivores.

I saw a show about cannibalism once on the History channel and it said that humans cannot get all the necessary nutrients from an only meat diet unless they eat each other. Then it said that humans accumulate so many toxins that people only eating others would die quickly. It was a very odd show.

I'm vegetarian, but I still eat eggs occasionally so I have to click omnivore, since that's technically what an omnivore is.

that said... no human being is carnivorous. the part of me that loves to be technical just HAD to get that out there. (sorry if I'm bursting anyone's bubble of fun.)

Omnivore, but I do eat meat everyday. I'm a meat and veggie lover, don't eat grains very much unless I have to.

Oh and my "meat" include fish and seafood and pretty much any animal product. :) Like blood and organ meat. I don't love preparing raw meat as much as veggies, but I'm trying to change that.

I've tried a lot of different ways of eating. In different times of my life various ones have worked better for me digestion-wise. For a long time I was a glutenfree vegan, and that worked great. As I've gotten older I've had to change that. Currently I eat a pastured meat-and egg- based diet supplemented with organ meats, soaked nuts, seeds, and small amounts of dried fruit. I would definitely call that carnivore, although the pure carnivores disagree.

I highly doubt they eat NOTHING but meat. Their cholesterol would be through the roof. Maybe mostly, like 75-90%... but even that I would think would be overload and hard on the system.

... on going through the recipes, even the names of some of them show that they also eat some veggies. Not much, but some... so they're still omnivores. They seem to just like the title.

I picked "herbivore" as I'm vegetarian - I would've picked "omnivore" seeing as I do eat animal products, but as there was a vegan option, I made the assumption that "herbivore" was there for the vegetarians.

I'm been a vegetarian since I was 10 (so 9 years) and did it at first because I wanted to save the animals. Now, it's more out of habit than anything else, and simply because I don't like the concept of having a dead animal in my mouth. I don't mind if people eat meat - in fact, according to DBF, I am an amazing cook with meat with my meat stew being famous around his halls of residence!
I've never EVER preached to anyone about becoming vegetarian, and instead find that I get people who eat meat bullying me about eating meat and how I should do it, how I'm unhealthy, how it's NATURAL for humans to eat meat because of our teeth. While I don't dispute that, I think that we are now lucky enough in our developed world to have a CHOICE whether or not to eat meat and I choose not to. Simples.

Yes, I have. It's mostly DBF's ultra-manly sporty friends who swallow cows whole (I kid, I kid) and who like to tease me, telling me my small stature is due to my lack of meat eating etc.

I take most of it in jest, but it does get irritating after a while!

The majority of people on those two forums I posted eat nothing but meat. They are rather strict about their membership (speaking from experience). Some of them are members here. Quite a few of them have posted their cholesterol tests in the zero-carb forum if you are interested.

and back to the topic at hand :)

I've had some time to actually get deeper than page two of the recipes on those forums and while the zero carb one DOES seem to be only meat recipes (I'm including eggs and dairy in there for the sake of consolidation and less typing), the other one has quite a few recipes that involve veggies (more like everyday type recipes for the typical person.) But, those are only some recipes... unless I was with those people every day for a while and actually saw that they eat nothing but meat, I'd still find it hard to believe that's all they eat.

It might be possible, I just think it's highly unlikely since there's no fiber in meat, plus there's very few minerals (and no vitamins except b12), so... they must be taking supplements by the handfuls if they're really doing it.

edit - you posted right before I did so I didn't see it.

I'm all set on that, I find it actually pretty gross that someone eats that much meat. I'm all for people eating what they want - my boyfriend's a hunter - I just think that's gross, and I'd rather get my vitamins and minerals from the direct source than by using a middleman (ie the meat.) thx for letting me know about there being a topic about it here, though :)

edit 2 - I like how the zero carb place (on facebook) nicknamed themselves 'faunivores' - that's actually kind of cute.

Heh. Omnivore. Spent a few years as ovo-lacto veggie due to finances, but really missed meat, dreamed of it.

Am now trying to eat more Meat, Veggies, Nuts, Fruits - cutting back on grains. Unfortunately I *love* peanut butter sandwiches, crackers, grilled cheese sandwiches, and oatmeal... :( Not to mention cookies and cakes and pies....

you can make grain free baked goods. almond and coconut flour are usually involved, if I remember correctly... I forget what exactly I was looking for when I started eating gluten free, but you could probably find quite a bit just by googling 'grain free' and then whatever you're looking for (cookies or whatever.)

I made pancakes and cupcakes with almond flour that turned out great.

I thought of myself as a carnivore for most of my life but age has disadvantages. Beef no longer tastes good. I've never much liked pork, anyway. I'm down to fish and chicken - both need a healthy dose of veggies in order to taste good when almost all you get is chicken (DH dislikes fish most of the time. "It's just too fishy" and seabugs are too expensive for daily consumption)

I'm an omnivore, but up until a few years ago I used to be mostly a carnivore+piscivore, because there were hardly any vegetables I liked (I think raw carrot was the only one). I still eat meat or fish almost every day, often more than once a day, and very often I can't be bothered with vegetables because I still don't like them so much that I feel the need to do the extra work, and it's the meat/fish that I consider the 'real' dinner anyway. I mostly just use vegetables when they're part of a specific dish, I hardly ever have them as side dishes (unless you count potatoes).

The way I eat, you'd think I'd be suffering from all sorts of malnutrition and health problems, but for some reason I'm not, and my immune system is great - I haven't been sick in many years.

I put carnivore because I actually raise and then butcher the meat animals here on the farm, myself. Goats, pigs, poultry. Saturady I thawed out a huge rack of hog ribs and we smoked those out on the smoker pit and ate those over the weekend. I do like veggies and other food of course, but cannot imagine life without meat.

I am a "meatatarian".

I was a vegetarian for 3 years. I stopped because I was showing symptoms of deficiencies, and I decided that I didn't want to get heart disease or cancer if I could prevent it, so now I follow basically the Primal Blueprint - meat, eggs, fruit, nuts, veggies, and a bit of cultured dairy and tubers. I play with the ratios a bit, because I still feel like ethically veggies are better than meat, grassfed or not, so they're still the central component. Meat is just my replacement for grains, calorically speaking, I suppose. I eat more eggs now. I try to utilize as much of the animal as possible - stock from an otherwise-useless chicken carcass, etc., increases demand for another animal death by 0, so there's little extra suffering on my account.
