I usually do a hot olive oil treatment every week, on Mondays if I can, just to keep things consistent. I use 1-2 Tsp of olive oil heated in the microwave for about a minute, and leave it on for half an hour or so. I have damaged hair and I'm trying to get it in better shape.
However, I've seen a lot of conflicting information about hot oil treatments: that if you have dry, chemically processed hair (which most of the length of my hair is), hot oiling can be done "as needed". I've also heard 2x/week, 1x/week, and that even if you hair is damaged, you should only do a hot oiling every 2 weeks because you can damage your hair.
So far, the weekly oiling has been working really well for me, but I don't want to keep it up for too long and discover that I *am* damaging my hair.
Does my routine sound ok? Has anyone ever damaged their hair from oiling?

I don't use hot oil, but I do a heavy oiling with coconut oil 1-2 nights per week, and leave it in overnight. Have you ever tried coconut oil? Chemically processed hair can really benefit from coconut oil because it actually penetrates the hair shaft and helps prevent protein loss.

Of course, not everybody's hair is alike.....but, it may be something you'd want to consider!

I think that if you were damaging your hair it would show. Since your routine is working for you I wouldn't change it. Just be sure the oil you are using is right for your hair type and texture to be sure you are getting the most out of hot oil treatments.
