Why don't I start things out? New Years 2008-2009, done with some finagling. It eerily reminds me of my siggie! :wigtongue

Maybe sometime soon I should get some sort of half-up that's actually recent.

:) Nice hairstyle of the month.
I really like half dos, when I want to show length without having to worry too much about wind etc.

This is my most recent one:

Hm. Not a favourite of mine... if my hair's going to be down I like it flowing around my face... but here's a simple one from last year.

Hmm... I only wear my hair down maybe 3-5 times a year, if that. Half-ups count as that, for me. A favorite is cold-curl half-ups. If it's not curled, the whispy nature of it just makes it float and grab anything and makes it look messy much faster. Curling kind of hides and hinders this hairy behavior.

Not exactly my favorite hairstyle this, since my fine har tends to get in the way. This sort of style is pretty, though!
I did my version with four rope braids - this was a good excuse to practice braiding, and I have found that I rather like rope braids, and have gotten reasonably competent at making them. I made loops with two of the braids to add a bit more interest. :)

That is so pretty! I'm still having trouble with rope braids, they get all frizzy on layered hair and mine has a tendency to unravel :( I must be doing something wrong

November 7th, 2010, 06:12 AM
Luxepiggy, your braid looks really nice - I wish mine were half as neat!
Little_Acorn - a four-strand braid?? I have enough trouble with three!
Sundial, that frizz is a consequence of your layers. Actually, my braids, both 2 and 3 strands, get frizzy, too - at least on the lower half of my hair. The ones in the picture certainly do - you just can't see it in the picture. It would have been even worse if I had not decided that long tassels would do just fine for this.
I usually turn my rope braids into rose buns, which means that I get to hide the frizziest parts. ;)

Alvrodul - that explains the variation in tassel length! I thought you did it on purpose to keep things interesting :o It sounds like it will work so I will do just that next time. Hopefully it works because I like rope braids. Can't wait to get rid of my layers though :(

A bit of constructive laziness can be useful! ;) As for making use of frizzy rope braids - I have a couple of pictures of rose buns in my album!:)

I like doing a celtic knot to hold up the top half of my hair for a half-up hairstyle. If I try and use a hair tie it generally just makes a big mess and knot of hair.

Hi Lianna! Your hair looks to be quite thick, lucky you, so I would recommend the small flexi for half ups and peacock twists. I LOVE the flexi and have been using my smalls since my hair was your length, and still do. ;)

This photo is from this summer. The combination of dark hair + crappy camera makes it look like just a mass of hair though :(

Not a great shot, and I virtually never wear my hair down (or half-down) these days, but I thought I'd give it a try. This is a tiny pencil bun held with a 60th Street 3-prong fork.

Top French-braided, held with a barrette:

Two lace braids into a single braid, small accent braids with feathers in them:

And there's a plain half-up in my sig picture.

Strange off-centre half-up:

http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/picture.php?albumid=5510&pictureid=89315

How to:
A mini cinnabun placed jauntily to one side, with the tail hanging out (and looking a bit squished by the barrette!), using half of the front hair. Other half of front hair is pulled back and wrapped a couple of times around the mini-bun, then pinned in place. Flowers added to taste. ;)

Just squeezing into November by the skin of my teeth :D this is one of my favourite styles - and one I can actually do!

Day 2 hair after Movie Star wash (poof has died down a bit after being slept on).

Hi. I know this is a few months later, but...

I love half up/half down, particularly since I have layers.
I am a newbie (just got activated today) and can't wait to get to 25 posts.

So, here goes:

This is after using Curlformers for about 2 hours. I twisted the top up a bit and held it in place with 2 spiral pins. I know it's fuzzy. I can't seem to figure out how to take a picture of the back of my head that isn't fuzzy! Sometimes I luck out, but not this time :(
