I'm sure it'd be fine to spray it for one night. Just be gentle when washing it out, so you don't take half your hair with you.

What an awesome costume idea!
Yeah, one night of spraying shouldn't kill you. If the spray you use has the drying kind of alcohol in it (not cetyl alcohol, but SD alcohol for example) then it may dry your hair out a tiny bit, but just do a nice moisturizing treatment after.

Also, I don't think there's an herbal way to spray paint your hair white, haha.

I love the Cruella De Ville, you can go very classic with an edge on this one :) There is no way spraying something temporary only once is going to harm your hair permanently. It's not like you're bleaching it.

as to other ideas for Halloween... I celebrated it for my first time last year, it's not a big thing in Australia except that at my uni we had american exchange students who were determined to have it. Great fun, I went as a Vampire. If I were to go again... hmm, I'm not sure what I'd try next time lol. soooo many options...

Manic Panic gel: you can wash it out immediately and they have white :)

Such a great idea! Probably the best is temporary white hairspray :) It shouldn't be too damaging :)
I think im going as a vampire this time round! :D I may change my mind yet though... If i go with the vampire idea im going to put (more) red henna in my hair and curl it i think! Its the only night where i can dress as crazy as i want! :D
Im going to do avery moisturizing treatment the next day so hopefully my hair wont get tooooooo damaged :)

When I was a little girl for one Halloween I dressed up as a crypt keeper. I had a wig at the time for my mother would not let me have black hair. Anyway this idea should work with natural hair to. I got allot of green fabric scraps, and made strips, the more scruffy the better, then I just tied the scraps into the hair at various intervals. The result was that it looked like green moss was growing out of my hair, and it is super easy to do, just tying lots of scraps of fabric into ones hair.

Now for the costume you wanted, perhaps you could do something of the same. Buying allot of white fabric strips and tie into one side of your head. Tying all the black of your hair with white fabric strips could give the illusion of one side being white.

If you have really dark hair, you might even try baby powder. I know the few times I've tried using baby powder as a dry shampoo, I ended up looking like a grey-haired old lady, even with tons of brushing to try to get the darn stuff out. If you parted your hair, covered the side you intend to be dark, & didn't brush it out (just rubbed it in throughly), I'd imagine it'd look white.

I've also tried Manic Panic gel & was pleased with the results.

I personally don't like the "Halloween" color sprays they sell in Walmart & drug stores. I did purple streaks recently (under duress) & ended up with some breakage. Also it didn't come out with just one washing. When I was in high school I used white on an updo to look like an old woman (since i have very dark hair, I had to use a TON of the spray to get white hair), and it was a b*tch to get out. . . the updo was literally plastered to my head. Took me about an HOUR to get the updo taken down very carefully to try to avoid breakage, and then had to wash & condition about three times.

Echoing everyone else, one of those spray on colours will be fine for one night. It's an excuse to baby your hair the next day!

I'm going as a female werewolf so I might be rather lazy and just wear my hair down. Whilst looking for inspiration though I saw someone who had totally teased their hair for that wild look, eep!

I LOVE the hat!

Your hair looks very witchy too (yay for brushing out those waves) but the hat is just amazing. As well as the sparkly lip stick. =)

I rag- and pin-curled my hair for a wavy vintage look. It came out looking very much like this (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/album.php?albumid=2719&pictureid=53324), though my hair is longer now. I'll add a picture when I've got one!

Up in the same bun with a butt-ton of oil on it. I'm henna'ing sometime this week, and moving... so I don't see much point in doing much. Just coconut oil, almond oil, and some tea tree.

I didn't do my hair any differently. I was a Victorian vampire, so I wore Victorian clothing, and vampiric makeup, but I styled my hair as always: I just push it back and let it fall naturally... In other words, basically nothing :p

Tonight it was up in a bun. It was down and swinging around for last night's zombie walk though.

Nice!!! Love it. I got to try that, but maybe my hair is too short.

My Halloween hair was boring, just pig tails (don't look at the forced smile LOL):

RHPS - Did Magenta, flipped my hair upside down, brushed the heck out of it and sprayed it.... Yeah, it actually works for me.

Sarah Palin mockery - soaked my hair in oil from the RHPS torture... Then did a half up with the ends tucked in, with the ends of the down just tucked under a bit.

Wedding - started with rag curls pinned, a few had to get a visit with a curling iron. Decorations added very carefully to not pull on my hair. Worked soo well, don't see any damage yet :)

Sally - just did some extensions in red, done 'em before. Pretty easy, my hair doesn't mind.

Living Dead Girl - slathered my hair in oil, put my wig cap on, then put the wig on and did my Zombie fun.

Today, my hair seems to be pretty happy. Ends are crispy, but they were before and I need a trim so now I will get one.

Joe and I dressed up as my parents for Halloween this year. :D

My mother often wears her hair in a semi-french twist and holds it up with a *small* paintbrush (she likes art.) I kinda exaggerated it....

PS Mom thought it was hilarious. She said that next year she might go as me!

I wore a marvelously sparkly cape and dress paired with make-up inspired by the crow. My hair was in a plain cheat stick bun, but dressed with many sparkly things and large flowers. It was really quite pretty, but very simple.
