View Full Version : Bangs?

Hi everybody....
I don't post that often, but I love reading about everyone's experiences and advice. Well, now I need specific advice.

I want to trim my hair and put bangs in to cut out a lot of dyed hair that is growing out. The hair affected is really only in the front, so I thought bangs would be a good way to solve that problem.

My problem is that I have no idea what options are out there for bangs. I don't just want a straight cut, but I need something to bring to my neighbor, who is a beautician, to follow. She advised me to go onto the Hairboutique site, but I need to sift through all the styles as there is no option to search by bangs.

Any suggestions?

Thanks so much for your reply, wintersun99. Yes, that's me, though months ago. My color line is now a bit past my eyes and I know that I can probably cut to eliminate that. I'm not too worried about the pop up... but just enough to worry about where exactly the cut should take place so that they are not too short. I don't mind them not being flat as I do intend to grow it out again... I just don't want a straight cut.

For the record, my length is now 35-1/4"... woo hoo! Just thought I'd get that down somewhere as when I go for the bangs, I'll get a trim, too.

You can see my nags in my profile pic... I just got then done last month so they are actually a bit "in style". But I've pretty much always had bangs.

I love your bangs..."nags"! They don't look like they take anything away from the volume and that is what I'm sorta looking for since I am going through massive shedding right now. I like how they are longer at the sides which should help get rid of the dye, but not everything all short at once.

Well as a child I always wanted a fringe (UK term) but my parents never let me. So I cut myself one when I was 5. Then I realised that it would get seen so I cut it RIGHT OFF! Haha!! Of course it grew back and I was found out.

When I was 11/12 my parents finally let me get one. But within three months I hated it and grew it out. It just didnt suit me- made me look childish.

Some bangs are gorgeous though. You could look in the hairstyle magazines for bangs styles and see if there is anythign?

Okay, the deed is done.... and I'm still alive! That's a good thing. While it was going on, I was talking about this and that, trying to keep my mind off of it.

So, I went from waist length to just under my bra strap length. I am guessing at least 4 inches, but I did want to get all the split ends out.

I'm a little disappointed with my bangs, but I realize that I ma never quite 100% happy with them... though I "DID" want them.

The good thing to report is that ALL of the brassy yellow is gone and that was the whole point of getting this done. I can still braid my hair, I can stilll wear it up... just that my braid is not as long as it was before.... it will grow back.

Whew! Glad THAT'S over!

Yes, they are!
When I first got them, I was disappointed, but they are growing on me. I think the problem was that it was a "dry" cut , cut done on dry hair. After my shower, they puffed up nicely. here are some pics I just took. I've not had a chance to have DH measure my head, but I told her not to do more than 4" or so off the length... my last measurement was at 35", give or take... I forgot but think it was one half inch.

Didn't want to make time to brush this smooth, but I like it this way, too!

Don't be sorry! Around here I think we can pretty much guess what the different terms mean... and I kind of like hearing what people from other countries call things. I find that very interesting, to say the least!
