I've been curious about cassia for a while, and have poked around on the cassia thread a bit, but I'm really curious as to how much change in colour there is. As a brunette, I'm especially curious as to how much it affects brown hair, but I'd love to hear about all of your results!

Before and after pictures would be the best, if possible.

I'm a redhead now (cassia was the gateway drug to henna, lol) but I used cassia twice on my previously peroxided blonde hair (with some ashy and grey roots). I tried everything I could to prepare it for dye release. I really wanted it to dye my hair. It did not, at all.

It did make it shiny though.

I dyed my hair a light ash blond (stopped dying 2 months ago, naturally a dark blond), my hair darkened and turned more golden, and shiny of course. I never try for color, just mix it up and slap it on. I do leave it on for 1-3 hours though. My hair didn't darken a ton, it's still pretty light, but it definitely changed color. Unlike henna (from what I have been told), the color doesn't seem to build up. It doesn't seem any darker the 3rd app of cassia then the first one.

Sorry I don't have any before and after pictures. I still haven't taken a decent hair picture to post here, I should get on that.

I wouldn't think you would notice much, if any, color change from cassia. It may make your hair slightly more golden, but then again, it may not. Do you want color change? If not I think some people mix the stuff up immediately put it on their head and only leave it one for like 45 mins. If you are worried about any possible color, I suggest test some hair from your brush or a strip of hair from the back of your head.

I used it a few times, and you couldn't tell by looking at it that I'd tried it.

The thing for me was that I could stretch washes some.

A straight cassia application on my hair doesn't change the hennaed length at all :)

Didn't change my color, but a mostly objective observer thought it helped tone down some of the brassiness that I tend to get.

I have medium blonde hair, and cassia gave it some golden tones. I now add a tablespoon or two of henna to the mix to give it just a hint of strawberry.

I've used cassia twice, and it gave my hair a greenish tinge. Nice.

I didn't see much if any of a change. I'm a dark blonde/ light brown one. I selected "light hair didn't change color" because I definitely don't have dark hair!
Here's some before and afters (the before is dirty-ish hair, though)

Pictures with the ugly pink nightshirt are the afters.

My light hair changed color. It may have been the honey that caused it. My light brown hair now looks dark golden blond. It's a subtle difference, and my be nothing more than a trick of the light (my hair is so shiny after cassia!). But, whatever . . . I feel like a blond and you know what they say about blonds!

I have a mixture of light brown, blonde, and red hair. I tried cassia a couple months ago and didn't like the results at all. It didn't change the color at all, but it made my hair super dried out and porus feeling. Just yucky all around and it took a couple weeks to get it back to it's normal condition. Just do lots of research cause I'm sure it works great for some people...just not me.

Have you read the Cassia thread? Some people have bought and used the medicinal cassia. They got the same results as the stuff for hair but it was MUCH cheaper. I have 2 more applications left of the cassia from H4H, when it's gone I think i will try the med. stuff.

I want to add that I do put honey in my mix, so that may be effecting the color.

I put that cassia changed the color of my hennaed hair. It makes mine a bit lighter, however, I wonder if that's because there is bleach under the henna, so that makes it more porous. I will have to pay special attention to the one stripe that has only henna over virgin hair, but honestly I think that part changes color too.

I also have had color change with cassia over my medium blond roots. Makes them goldeny yellow.

A note on the medicinal stuff: it's stronger, smells worse and is harder to deal with. It also made my hair a bit brassy (although that changed.) I think it has a higher concentration of chyrsophanic acid and is not exactly cassia obovata, but some very similar cassia. Hmm... I should really be reading the cassia thread!

I'm very interesting in trying cassia, but I'm not interested in changing my hair color. Thanks for posting this poll.

I don't even know what cassia is, just like I had never heard of Henna. :-)

Cassia does not seem to change my medium brown hair's color, although it definitely adds depth and shine, but it turns my grey hairs golden (temporarily).
