This just popped up on MSN. It's about how to grow your hair long.

It's quite amusing. The best part is the advise to trim your hair every 6-8 weeks by 1.5-2 inches. Lets see, that would make it keep getting shorter, not longer. Oops!

Wow, that video was one long commercial. It also bothers me that they seem to assume that everyone has straight hair.

Yea, even the most ”conservative” trimming according to this would make me grow
0,8 x 12- 1,5 x (52/8 ) = 9,6 – 9,75 = minus 0,15 inches per year…

Edit for more math- fun...
2 inches every 6 weeks:
0,8 x 12- 2,0 x (52/6) = 9,6 – 17,3 = minus 7,7 inches per year…
I would be back at flip length in a little over 4 years at that rate  That’s quicker than it took to grow it to mid thigh/knee-ish in the first place!

Wow doing razor cutting on long hair esp. mine which is fine is the worst idea ever. Also MP brushes are good but its a bit of an advert as Copasetic says because I have a brush that cost £1 and I have bought many more but I always come back to this brush which has really lasted the years and smooths my hair out.

I thought I was a bit superficial till I saw this but oh lord this is a new level of vanity- the one on gym beauty was especially stupid.

Its also hooey too, I worked as a model and they use some expensive stuff but it just comes down to the skill of the hairdresser/beautician.

Also massive LOL at "is there any way to seal in and disguise the damage?"

That sounds like excessive trimming for sure! However, I used to get my hair trimmed every 6-8 weeks, and I never paid attention to how much my stylist took off, but I still gained an average of 5.5 inches of length per year on that schedule. With no trimming, I only gained 1.5 inch more length per year.

Hey, at least they're telling us growing long hair is cool, not "vaguely creepy." ;)

The "trim 1.5 - 2 inches every 6 - 8 weeks to grow your hair" made me LOL! Considering that the avarage person only grows 0.5 inches per month, that's just :crazyq:
Doesn't anyone on that site knows math?

Wow, 1.5- 2 inches every 6-8 weeks?! Someone needs to be schooled in math! All of the endorsments made me laugh. They even made sure to shoot it in front of some bright, colorful bottles of hair product.

I don't think anybody will be doing that math, no. But then the target audience for this comm... ah, informative little video, is not the _real_ long hairs. The target audience is the sort of person who thinks shoulder length hair is long.
Just look at us - slicing and dicing the vid like veggies for a salad. But then, _we_ have educated ourselves about hair.
And the point of the video is not really about giving good advice about hair - it is about selling products and (hairdressing) services (:scissors:). Any actual good advice is incidental.
Yes, it is cynical.
