Does hair feel lighten when you put oil on?

My hair feels fuller when I don't have any oil.

But I put alot of Coconut oil on my hair, when I do this my hair feels alot lighter. Is this normal? and also can putting too much oil in your hair actually make you shed more hair?:confused:

I find it makes my hair a little heavier which I like. If I use to much on the scalp it will make me shed more.
