Yesterday the boyfriend and I went to a Samhain fair at the Unitarian church in Peterborough NH and while there I recieved some hair advice! An older woman was manning a table selling jewelery she had the longest hair I've ever seen in real life. It was black with some grey and to her knees. We were chatting and somehow she started telling me her "secrets" for growing long hair...they included using a satin pillowcase, wearing it up while outside in the wind and using anti-tangle spray on knots. She showed me a way to put hair up which involved twisting the entire length then pinning it around the head. It was pretty cool. There were many longhairs at the fair and it strengthen my resolve to keep my patience when it comes my own hair getting longer. ( it's about 2-3" from BSL at the moment)
Just wanted to share with you all boyfriend isn't interested in talking about hair.
I have a few question before I go I can't always see pictures on posts is it because I'm a new member or is there some other reason? Also how do i post pictures? put them on photobucket or some similar site first? do i need a certain number of posts to do that?

Hi see turtle! (I love your username)
Yes, you need a certain number of posts before you can do/see some things...all the info on that is here http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=1657.
I don't believe you need a certain number of posts to post your own photos. You would need to host them on photobucket or something similar. Be aware, though, if you do that, then everyone on the internet will be able to see them.

That's great advice, you'll find lots of updo ideas here. Lots of folks here use silk pillowcases too (including me) and I can definitely say they are helpful. Welcome, a Samhain fair that sounds fun---Peterborough NH is a cool place.

Hey and welcome fell NH-er! When I first joined it was torture to not be able to see all the pretty pictures... as soon as you get enough posts you're going to be blown away by the amount of gorgeous hair around here. :)

I have seen the satin pillowcase and updo advice on this site. If you'd believe it, although it makes perfect sense, I never thought of satin pillowcases as something to protect the hair, just an indulgence.
And as for no pics, yeah, I'm still in that stage too. Sometimes I have to leave threads unresponded-to because I can't see the pic they're referencing, and there is definitely a lot of eagerness to see all the pretty. It's a bit of a loss not to be able to see profiles and such too, since I've seen some really amazingly healthy hair and I end up wanting to find a member's posts so I know how they got it in that condition. Even if you ask them within a thread, they don't always come back to it, so it's difficult.
