Hey everyone:)
I've read on here somewhere that using too much ACV can cause oily hair/scalp. How does this happen?

I'm currently trying to find the perfect mix.

I guess it's because it can be drying in excess quantity, so the scalp reacts by producing more oil.

Well I recently stopped using shampoo (I still scrub with water daily) and for a while I used ACV but yeah, it made my hair kinda greasy, however it has a very nice effect when I use it from the ears down, just not on the scalp

I use about 1/4 cup vinegar to about 4 cups water for my final rinse, which I do not rinse out with plain water. I have never had excess oil because of it though. What ratio do you use?

Maybe that's the reason why my hair is getting greasy faster now when I use vinegar. I don't need any oil if I use vinegar. Yestarday I didn't use any vinegar just to try my shampoo bar without it and my hair clearly needs some oil but now I propably can go without washing longer than with vinegar. Maybe from now on I just use it on my poor chemically treated ends because they need it the most.

Could it be because vinegar closes the hair cuticles sometimes too well so that hair doesn't absorb oil? I don't really know...

moonkitty, I use one or only a half spoon in my big giant teecup full of water but I don't use ACV. Mine is stronger. It contains 10% of acid.
