So i posted earlier that i'd finally managed a decent french braid and how happy i was. Heres the evidence of my hard graft: :p

It's safe to say i'm pretty happy.
Oh and another question, because i was so pleased i decided to measure my hair for the first time, needless to say it's pretty wavy from being braided all day, but it measured at 28'' when wavy.
I used this method: @1.43

Is this the correct method?
I've had a good LHC day. :cheese:

LHC people seem to measure in different ways. I use photos versus a tape measure, but when I do measure I start at the hairline and run the tape over the top of my head and down the back :)

Yeap that's the method i used today, i suppose measuring is so variable across the site then aenflex. Hmm, maybe better to go with the body parts method.

I use the body parts method and find that works well for me. If I focus too much on actual length then I get lost in the numbers and sometimes the real progress is lost in translation.
One other thing that happened recently was I discovered my hair is becoming difficult to braid. It is definitely too long to braid straight down my back, and I have to pull it over my shoulder. It is still quite short when braided (I think this has something to do with the thickness of my hair) but I cannot manage the entire thing the way that I once did. I find that interesting. I also have to work harder and hold the hair differently than before when I comb.

I agree. Body parts are "scaled" to the individual; when some are short and some are tall, the same numerical measurement will fall at different body parts. However, I do like doing the numerical measurement...but that's probably because I'm a science graduate student, and I've been trained to take copious amounts of data and to anaylze it. ;) But seriously, I do find it enlightening and helpful to know my average rate of growth and to see how I am progressing, as long as I don't get "lost in the numbers" and length obsessed.

Thank you guys, i was really chuffed with this. I can remember thinking a couple of years ago that i would never be able to do something like that by myself and i'd have to get someone to help me. It's a great feeling.
bunzfan it was a french i was going for, don't know what exactly it turned out like but i'm more than happy with it. And woo, good to see some UK girls posting!
Thank you again everyone.
