Has anyone done this?

I am currently growing out henna and have about 2 inches of natrual, dark ash blonde roots. I was thinking about maybe putting a temporary hair dye over top to sort of make everything one colour for a while but I wouldnt want to do it if it wouldnt eventually fade out...I wouldnt want to erase the progess I made and make a new colour I will have to grow out. Do you know what I mean? I would want it to evenually fade all the way out and have my roots still dark ash blonde...is this possible?

I was thinking of using a very light warm brown colour, as I have tried dying ash blonde over the henna in the past with no sucess, so I thought a darker shade would hide it better.

Heres an example of where I am at...

The Punky hair dye (similar to Manic Panic) that I used at Easter faded out completely over about 3 months, except here and there in the very ends.

hmmmm, I wonder if I can find a brand availiable where I live that has natural shades but fades as well. I'm afraid that a temp or semi might never fade.

You could use the wash in wash out ones.

I used to use a red toner by Schwarzkopf and im sure they probably do brown - heres a link
3 X Schwarzkopf Live Duo Toner Energetic Red 868 Bnib (http://www.google.co.uk/product_url?q=http://rover.ebay.co.uk/rover/1/710-67306-24966-0/2%3Fmpre%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Frover.ebay.com%252Fr over%252F1%252F710-67306-24966-0%252F2%253Fmpre%253Dhttp%25253a%25252f%25252fcgi. ebay.co.uk%25252f3-X-Schwarzkopf-Live-Duo-Toner-Energetic-Red-868-BNIB--_W0QQitemZ110552815512QQcmdZViewItem&fr=AEIVDzhrxfUV0cFFKgRDa7d-S95O0WoikR9VdntIuHxeP36EjsYb4TcsIespbI476gC1qvrjiK awqY3yJt252HT2w70mvcdzTMmN7NYvJ47hEu3I5j3GeJ9NfvxH f7MINHXrkOFfoFxr1g4-0hEh2l-q7e6n05YHiSVgmcYy3QfnXIZtA8AJFrynbHYZ1rjfLY0Sb5uiM GSx-Yc11_r34zRc8tFiQ4ADPDUT6JEvj-sXKANEGaEqAVQl_AxmPmhD2z_vRC2FeJjKPAMIElhFZ4j31GnJ GKwEkJc6rge3A7P-1IQRhVia94Qd6ueOHLu-nweznp1eRutHNFhZS3ABFbs7vay9A72PPKcBs8pAroq02jw26b Ezrts-v9ZOu7Cy8BCetXZxk1kt2PZlVsCWoTgAAAAAAAAAAA&gl=uk&hl=en&ei=EG68TMP8CM2J-ga62IHcCQ&sa=title&ved=0CAcQgwgwADgA)

I hope that helps

Manic Panic has always faded completely away for me. A tip is to mix it with some light conditioner to dilute the color, if you don't want such a vibrant result.

The semi colors that come in box dyes - they usually say they last through 12 shampoos - they really truly do fade completely away. There is no developer of any kind in them, the color coats the hair but does not penetrate the hair shaft.
The Demi colors - like I just used last night :) - they last through 28 shampoos but because they have a peroxide developer, on some people they last much much longer.
Garnier makes both and I just used Herbashine # 645 last night. Another tip, if you find a color you like in the herbashine you can leave it on under ten minutes and you won't get the full effect and it will fade back to normal quicker. If you like it, leave it on longer next time........ It's a great product, beautiful shades and incredibly easy to use.
Good luck with whatever you decide and update please !!!

Oh thank you! I will look at that brand, so if I dont want peroxide or anything in it I look for a semi...have you noticed any damage with a demi? Or does it not fully fade? I have light hair so I'm afraid :eyebrows:

I am naturally ash blonde. The Demi color holds on me pretty well but I don't honestly wash my hair that often. I have never noticed any damage with a Demi and I like that as it slowly fades you dot have a line of demarcation. A semi disappears fairly quickly, so maybe start there and work your way to a semi if you like the color.

How about putting a semi only over the henna hair? Then you know for certain you won't be changing your roots or worrying about the dye sticking.
