That is really interesting, thanks for the link. :) I'm now eyeing my bottle of soy sauce somewhat more suspiciously.

hahaha that is really gross!

I have a very eccentric aunt and she came up to me one night at a family get together and told me that she had put soy sauce on her greys to hide them teehehehehehehe

Let's pray they don't use chemically dyed hair for that! :D

I wonder where they got all that hair from? I'm not sure I really want to know though...

Oh my goodness, that... Is disgusting...

Seems like a bit of a Chinese equivalent to Sweeney Todd. Less gory, but still revolting!

That is nasty! :puke:
I don't like soy sauce all that much and never even put it on sushi, and now I have yet another excuse to bypass the salty stuff.

I really, REALLY want to say this sounds like a hoax... but I can't find anything anywhere that says so. How gross. :disgust:

ETA: Still thinking... this has to be fake. Otherwise, why hasn't CNN covered it yet?.... yeah. All I can see are a bunch of no-name websites.

I looked at the date, that was back in 2004, plus....I don't believe it anyways. The USA FDA would not allow that to be imported if that were the case.

Yep, I didn't even think to check the date. Good catch.

I sort of wondered why they didn't say what company. Usually if there are recalls or stuff like this, they say who the company is.

That's a bit odd.... Here, I thought soy sauce was made from soy.

As gretchen_hair pointed out, I think the Pure Food and Drug act would limit this in the USA, and I'm sure similar controls exist in the EU. FWIW, Kikkoman (probably the most prevalent soy sauce around here, if not the most tasty I've had) is made in Wisconsin and California.

somehow that doesn't sound very right. They could use the same compounds that is found in human hair, but actually using human hair sounds a bit odd.

No. No. NO! I work at a Sushi restaurant with buckets of soy sauce. No...:( Why? ::Runs to room and rocks back& forth in bed:: I am traumatized. :(

I think so too: soy beans are easier available. Buying hair would probably be all off-cuts from salons, or left overs after weavings and extensions have been produced. But still, the more I think about it, the more it sounds like a hoax. Nice story to publish on Aprils Fools' day :D
