So it's been a while since I started a thread here =P I looked up for a thread like this and didn't find it so I supose I could start one :D
I have started one on side parts last year, by this time as well I guess. So this is the time of the year when my hair has to go up and away, and I'm so tired of the center part again - for some reason, I like it during the Summer but then in the Winter, probably because I don't wear low necklines, I feel I look like a librarian lol.

SO, I wanted to ask you all who wear their hair parted to the side to share pictures with us, if possible with your hair up as well :) If you don't want to show your face, you could just blur it out I guess ^^

I am quite hesitant to part it to the side, because it always looks like it's been licked :p, it doesn't frame my face at all and I always go back to a center part very quickly. Possibly, I don't even give it time to adjust and eventually frame my face a little, falling on my forehead a little but oh well...

Or maybe it's just because I have an oval face shape and it's quite long? Like Elves... are there Elves with side parts? :silly:

So yeah, please share your pictures :) Inspire me and the ones who want to change their part please :D

Thank you :flowers:

(ooh, and I know that some people, like Spidermom, don't part their hair, and just push it do one side or the other. My sister does this too and it works wonderfully, but I've got no idea how someone who always wears their hair in a braid - me - could do this  Actually whenever I braid or ponytail my sister's hair now, I always part it before I start... hmm...)

I've side-parted as long as I can remember, mainly because I've always had side-bangs (until recently). You can sort of see it in this picture, although I have better pictures, just not on LHC at the moment :p:

Every year or so I'd switch which side of my head the part/bangs were on.

Cute thread idea! Here is my side part. I used to part it on the left side, but then when I tilted my head to write with my right hand my hair always went into my face so I made the switch haha! A good rule of thumb I heard once is that a great place to have your side part is directly above the highest arch in your eyebrow - it will be very flattering.

I started parting my hair on my right side about 8 years ago, and now I find my self looking odd, and like a member of Backstreet boys if I do a center part. I guess it is all based on habit, because I always center parted it unthil I was 20, and found that the nicest at that time. I wish I could go back, because I find my hair appearing very thin at one side from time to time, ecpecially when it is a long time since I last colored my hair, and my natural mousy color is visible. Or when I am in a shedding period, like now when I am breast feeding.

I haven`t figured out how to attach pictures here yet, but I guess you can see my side parting at my avatar picture:)

Its in my avatar. (Even though my hair is substantially shorter, lol.)

I parted my hair the same way for years, then my hairdresser told me it's bad to keep it on one side, so I switched. I like it a lot more on this side. (:

I dunno, I have an oval-long face shape and I look much better with a side part since it rounds out my face a little bit. My face looks longer with a center part.
When I was younger my family made me keep a center part saying that side parts make me look old. I think side parts work better for me just because I look odd with a center part, my face is probably asymmetrical.
I envy those who can pull off the center part though, not many people have center parts anymore..

My hair usually ends up being pulled straight back for braids.

Wow, cool responses :) I have to add Rachelily, you're so beautyfull :D

These pictures show beautyfull hair with cool side parts, but I'd really like to see it in updo's as well, since it's how I'd wear it. One thing I find odd is that when I part it on the side, I love how it looks with my hair down. It actually softens y face and all, but when I put it up it looks bad, I don't know why

As you Spidermom, I also tried it pulled back once and I felt it was too severe yet... I do like the way it looks pulled back but with a hairband, though I can't make a hairband work with every outfit, especially for Winter.

Let's see if someone can share an updo picture with the side part :)
Thank you all so much for the replies so far :D Such beautyfull hair and beautyfull faces :flowers:

I apologize for the angle these pictures were taken because it's kind of hard to see how it would look from the front, but I figured I'd still post them. I usually wear my hair in a zigzag part down the middle but I'll usually do the side part if I'm doing my hair in an updo.

My hair has always naturally parted to the left, but I can coax it to various positions left of center. I can't quite make myself go all the way to the center, though, because I think it would look kind of weird. Anyways, for a long long time I did "fake" sideswept bangs...the hair wasn't short like bangs, but I just parted the front section way to the side, and then the rest of my hair back to the crown parted somewhere closer to center. Eventually I actually cut sideswept bangs, and while I liked the style, keeping short bangs just isn't for me! Although I will say that sideswept bangs in an updo can look very stylish. Anyways, for the past nine months or so I've been wearing it more centered while growing them out, sort of for the extreme contrast effect.
Okay, enough talk. You can see pictures of my old part style in my avatar <---- or here below (from 2007; look how nice my hair was when I only occasionally straightened it! ;)).

Golly, this thread is inspiring me to start parting it further over again! My bangs are now something like collarbone length, so I wonder how it would look...

Aw thank you!

For updos, I usually wear "down-dos", or they are just low on my neck - but when I pull my hair up in a higher pony, the part is still there - I can't get rid of it! I think they are a little tricky to keep in place when higher, so you may just want to stick to brushing it all back when putting it up.

My part is also omnipresent. ;) I actually kind of like keeping it for my updos and mid-dos; I think it helps give a little interest to my face instead of just pulling it all back very sternly, if you know what I mean. I also like the idea of a side part with the hair swooping a tad bit over my forehead, just to soften it up a bit.

I'll play. My part wanders around my head but it's usually in one or two places.

In the middle:

Or on the side:

I know, I know, I look 15 years old.

My hair falls naturally into a middle part. I've tried to keep it parted to one side or the other in the past, but it ends up flopping back over during the day.

Does anyone else remember the infomercial product, years back, for a hair-parting tool? It came with a type of stylus and different stencils, I believe, for making zig-zags and different patterned parts.

I remember that! Haha I think you can still buy them in the odd claires accessories store.

My side parting changes from left to right almost seasonally. I think it freshens up a look quite simply without needing to cut or colour. I haven't had a center parting since I cut a fringe back in 6years ago.

Yes I completely agree! It also makes it easier to pick out little pieces to fall around your face - when it is brushed out, and you have pieces, it looks forced or faked and a little 1990s. And I agree about adding interest, as well. It takes a little maneuvering to get it to work out, but its definitely worth it!

My avatar hair photo is an updo with an extreme right part. I think updos with side parts are very flattering. Try wearing your hair up when you part. I wear parts on the left or the right, or slightly off middle (I have a bit of a widow's peak). Side parts work great for wispy bangs too. Experiment with where you part, closer to the middle or further away. The most flattering is supposed to be above the highest arch of your brow. I've always liked your middle part though!

ETA: a picture from my album of a slightly off-center left part (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/album.php?albumid=4883&pictureid=80046).

oh how fun! here's mine:

it naturally parts at the middle, but adjusts pretty easily to a side part.

I have a side per but just end up pushing my hair over or pinning my finger back x

I wear a deep side part, mostly because it runs from cowlick to cowlick and that is just how it goes. :) Some hair dressers try to put it on the other side, but the really good ones don't bother trying to move the part because they know I'll end up with a mini part there anyways, and who want two parts?
http://i1086.photobucket.com/albums/j453/FrozenBritannia/hair/DSCN1354-1.jpg

and here from the side:

http://i1086.photobucket.com/albums/j453/FrozenBritannia/hair/DSCN1362-1.jpg

Basically what I did today, was a french braid from the part down to just behind my ear and tied it off with a tail, then french braided the other side all the way around to the same ear and incorperated the tail into the end of the braid, then tied it off and tucked it under and pinned a flower/ribbon/ornament thing over where the braids joined.

Sounds more complicated than it really is. The pics would have been better if I had taken them right after I did it as I have hair that does not like being restrained and rebels by escaping, but oh well!

When i had blunt bangs/fringe i nearly always wore a middle parting or very slightly off centre. Now i always wear a side parting as a middle parting looks just weird
